May 16th 2020: Waterfalls in New Ipswich NH and Wilton NH

Today, we decided to go look for some waterfalls in New Hampshire. Our first waterfall was Kangas Falls in New Ipswich NH, found on the Furnace Brook Trail at ~411 Turnpike Road. From the road itself, one can already see the water fall from the top, but I ventured down on the trail, initially not finding the way to the falls, but eventually I backtracked to near the beginning where there was a side path to the falls, which is more a dam of sorts.

Next, it was off to Wilton NH, where we decided to look for the Batchelder Falls, located off King Brook Road at roughly 42.796568, -71.795592. One has to climb down a very steep hill in order to see the falls in their full splendor.

Definitely better than Kangas Falls, but hard to get to. I thought I would not be able to get back out onto the road.

Our next destination was the Heald Tract area nearby, where the path we took to get to Batchelder Pond on the Camp Trail is shown below in pink. 

Short, but decent views of the pond.

With that, we headed for home. A good day for checking out waterfalls.
