April 21st 2019: A Quick Bite in Brooklyn NY on the Way Home

On the way home from a wedding in Philadephia, we decided to stop by NYC, passing through Manhattan NY

George Washington Bridge

United Palace Theater

Highbridge Park

Harlem River Lift Bridge

St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church
to get to Brooklyn NY,
Old Williamsburgh Savings Bank

Most Holy Trinity-St. Mary Roman Catholic Church

Russian Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration

We had lunch in town at Okonomi, a small Japanese restaurant serving Japanese breakfast,

We then got dessert from Patisserie Tomoko at 568 Union Avenue,

getting the Espresso,
the Sakura Flan with Sesame Red Beans Sauce,
the Cream Puff,
the Mont Blanc (chestnut mousse, pistachio ganache with yuzu ice cream).

and the Petit Fours.
Closer to home, we stopped by the the Comfort Inn and Suites in Sturbridge for a break. Not bad looking outside and in.

April 19th 2019: Westfield Trumbull, Trumbull CT

While on our way to Philadelphia today, we decided to stop by Westfield Trumbull, a shopping mall in Trumbull CT.
We got lunch here at Wahlburgers, a chain burger place founded by the famous Wahlberg brothers.
For food, we got the Sweet Potato Tater Tots
and the Mac N' Cheese (mini penne, government cheese, cheddar, smoked mozzarella and parmesan) for the little one,

and the Crispy Haddock Sandwich (hand breaded, panko crusted, haddock fillet, lettuce, tomato and housemade balsamic tartar sauce),
the Jenn's Chicken Sandwich (marinated seared chicken breast, caramelized onions and crispy onions, lettuce and housemade honey garlic mayo)
and the Our Burger (1/3 lb burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, government cheese, Paul's housemade signature Wahl's sauce and pickles) for ourselves.
The only disappointment here was the macaroni, which was really bland, while everything else was pretty flavorful, although the chicken was a little on the salty side. Not bad coming out from Massachusetts.

April 18th 2019: Road Runner Pizza, Worcester

For lunch today, I got pizza from Road Runner Pizza at the Hamilton Street location in Worcester, getting the Mushroom Lovers (portobello and white mushroom, garlic, parmesan, our own special mozzarella and cheddar).
Not bad while hot, but nothing special overall.

April 17th 2019: 118 Main Street Kitchen and Spirits, Upton

Today, we decided to have dinner at 118 Main Street Kitchen and Spirits, a pretty upscale restaurant in Upton.
We got the Rack of Lamb (Grilled, Lemon Rosemary Gremolata, Chianti & Port Wine Reduction, Creamy Risotto, Seasonal Vegetable)
and the Crab Cakes (Kimchi, Lemon Mint Crema).
Excellent food, coming from a place like Upton.

April 16th 2019: Pizza in Northborough, Portuguese in Hudson

For lunch today, I decided to get a Breakfast Pizza (ham and bacon) from Monti's Pizza Plus in Northborough.
Nothing special, although I could only finish half of it.

For dinner, we headed to Hudson to check out the Old School House Pub and Restaurant. I initially thought this was just a regular bar restaurant, but it is actually pretty upscale.
For food, we got the Grilled Limpets (Lapas Grelhadas, shellfish native to the Azores, grilled in garlic butter sauce),
the Salmon on Portuguese Clay (Salmao na Telha, broiled salmon drizzled with olive oil topped with bacon, chourico, croutons and onions served with punched potato and black eye pea salad)
and the Molotof (Portuguese Meringue).
Really authentic Portuguese food, the best I have had to date, the limpets being a first time experience, while the salmon was perfectly cooked, and the dessert airy. Definitely worth another try.

April 14th 2019: Spending the Day in Boston

Today, we decided to spend the day in Boston,
John Winthrop School for Young Children

going for a walk at the Charles River Esplanade
before grabbing a bite at the Tatte Bakery and Cafe on Boylston Street, which was busy with the brunch crowd.
We got the Strawberry Vanilla Cloud
and the Matcha Latte.
The dessert was just alright, although the drink was pretty good, despite us having to sweeten it ourselves. Given the popularity of this place, I will probably come back again to try some of their other stuff.

After our first meal, we passed by the newest fad in town, Happy Place. 30 bucks just to visit crap and take pictures with it? Thankfully I did not do it.
Next, the Boston Marathon finish line, where it's going to happen tomorrow.
We stopped by the Lindt Chocolatier nearby at 704 Boylston Street,

and got to sample their Vanilla Truffle Egg (with creamy center).
Not bad, although my other half thought it was too sweet.

After passing through the Mandarin Oriental Boston,
and passing by the new facade of the Prudential Center,
before entering it through the Eataly entrance. We decided to eat at Terra, which has a nice outdoor like design

and a skylight view.
The bread was presented interestingly enough as well.

For food, we got the Supplì al telefono (carnaroli rice, short rib, chicken liver, housemade mozzarella)
and the Agnolotti al coniglio (housemade rabbit agnolotti, fava beans).
Wasn't all that special, small portion, and really expensive. Don't think I want to come back again, although the ambience is really nice.

Next, we went to check out what the buzz about Blue Bottle Coffee is all about, which thankfully did not have a line this time around.
We got the New Orleans Iced Coffee,
which honestly wasn't anything special. Guess we are not coffee connoisseurs.

Finally, after passing through Copley Place

and the Westin Copley Place,

we finally decided to call it a day of hanging out in Boston.
