January 31st 2020: Lunch in Worcester, Dinner in Boston

Today for lunch, I decided to check out Victoria Evergreen African Restaurant, a hole in the wall place in a sketchy part of Worcester at 336 Grafton Street.

I got the Jollof Rice,

which was actually pretty tasty, although the meat was on the dry side. Would not come back only due to the environment.

Later, after visiting the Grove Hall branch of the Boston Public Library in Boston,
we decided to have dinner at Oisa Ramen, a hole in the wall ramen place in the Financial District area of Boston.
We were lucky enough to get seats, though there were only bar like tables to sit at. We got the Oisa Tonkotsu (tonkotsu broth, burnt garlic oil, pork belly, sesame seeds, pickled mustard green, soy egg, scallion, pickled ginger)
and the Wagyu Don (sukiyaki style American wagyu beef, onsen soft egg, pickled ginger).
The ramen was just alright, and the beef was a little on the dry side. Definitely not one of the better ramen places in town, and expensive too. Not coming back again.

January 29th 2020: Quick Lunch at Sonoma, Worcester

Today, I met my other half for lunch at Sonoma in Worcester, where we got the Faroe Island Salmon (creamed spinach puree, oyster mushrooms, meyer lemon, fennel pollen).
Very good, and my little one ate most of it.

January 28th 2020: Wexford House Restaurant, Worcester

Today, we decided to get lunch from Wexford House Restaurant, an old timer restaurant in Worcester frequented more by the elderly crowd, which I visited once a long time ago before I started this blog.
We got the Baked Stuffed Summer Squash (Filled with ground lamb and rice; served in a seasoned tomato sauce with a bowl of rice pilaf),
which was a little on the sour side and not really to my liking. Yep, still the same from a long time ago. Not coming back again.

January 26th 2020: Tiger Mama, Boston

This morning, after checking out the West Roxbury branch of the Boston Public Library

and the 3 storey Target in the Fenway area,
we decided to have lunch at Tiger Mama, a pretty nice Thai restaurant nearby.
For food, we got the Churro Pancakes (cinnamon crunch, chocolate syrup),
the Shrimp Toast Benny (crispy shrimp toast, soft poached eggs, cilantro "bearnaise")
and the Pig Rice (house tasso, bacon, issan sausage, pork sung, wok fried duck egg).
The pancakes were excellent, with not too much cinnamon, and the rice was simply sinful with all that smoky, porky flavor together. The shrimp toast was the perct example of how you bring Thai food into American cuisine. Excellent meal to say the least.

January 24th 2020: Karol's Corner Take Out, Leicester

For dinner tonight, I decided to get takeout from Karol's Corner Take Out in Leicester, a small building located in the middle of a parrking lot. I got the Chicken Marsala (Sauteed chicken & mushrooms in a sweet marsala wine sauce tossed with pasta.),
which was just alright in my opinion, although my other half liked it. I think Woo Bar in Worcester last week was better though.

January 22nd 2020: A&C Pizza, Worcester

Today for lunch, I decided to get some pizza from A&C Pizza at 90 Providence Street in Worcester,
getting the Hawaiian Pizza.
Nothing special though.

January 20th 2020: Sichuan Cuisine, Watertown

Today, we decided to check out Sichuan Cuisine, an authentic Chinese restaurant in Watertown. Small and plain decor, but still nice looking.
Pretty good cabbage in chili oil for starters as well.
For food, we decided to get the Scallion Pancake,
the Shredded Beef with Chili Pepper
and the Chengdu Spicy Chicken.
The pancake was nothing special, but the other two dishes were actually pretty tasty, not being too spicy either. A place worth revisiting in future.

January 18th 2020: Ming's Seafood, Quincy

Today, not wanting to wait in the freezing cold for the grand opening of the 99 Ranch Market, an Asian grocery store in Quincy, we decided to go next door to Ming's Seafood, a large Chinese restaurant in Quincy which is a branch of the one in Malden. Much bigger location, and grander looking.
We enjoyed most of the Dim Sum dishes we had here, although we could barely finish them.
Not sure about the bad reviews online, but we enjoyed our meal today.

January 17th 2020: Woo Bar and Grill, Worcester

Today, after checking out the small Little Gym in West Boylston for their open house,

we decided to check out Woo Bar and Grill, a new bar restaurant that has taken the place of Padavano's which I visited a few times in the past. Same decor I believe.

For food, I got the Chicken Marsala (Tender chicken breast served with mushrooms & light onions in a marsala sauce with linguini),
which was pretty rich in flavor. Not bad, although the menu wasn't very interesting. Definitely better than Padavano's though.

January 16th 2020: Chani's Kosher Take-Out, Worcester

Today after work, I decided to stop by Chani's Kosher Take-Out, an informal Jewish restaurant in Worcester which only opens on Thursday nights, located within the Jewish Congregation Tifereth Israel.
I got the Beef Knish,
which was actually pretty tasty. Might be worth checking out if you are into Jewish food.

January 13th 2020: Insomnia Cookies, Worcester

Today, I decided to get a quick bite from the Insomnia Cookies location in Worcester, getting a deconstructed Cookie Wich (cold, creamy ice cream sandwiched between two traditional cookies), consisting of a Sugar (sweet and buttery cookie), White Chocolate Macadamia (filled with sweet white chocolate chips,  macadamia nuts and hint of coconut)

and Vanilla Ice Cream.

Not bad, though on the sweet side.
