October 31st 2014: Getting Scared in the Factory of Terror, Worcester

Today after work, I met up with a friend for dinner at the Fix Burger Bar in Worcester.

The menu was completely different today, with my friend deciding to get the Ahi (seared tuna steak, Sriracha aioli, sesame chips, spicy kimchi, sweet soy, sesame roll) burger,

while I got the Crunchy (lettuce, fried prosciutto, parmesan crisp, potato chips, garlic mayo, mustard pickle, sesame roll) burger.

This time round, the burgers were just okay, although the Vanilla Original Milkshake (Slow-Churned Ice Cream, Fox's U-Bet Syrup, Fresh Ice Cold Milk) we got
was pretty delicious.

After dinner, as it was Halloween, I decided to bring her to go check out the Factory of Terror in town.
This place is like a haunted house, just on a much larger scale.

We had VIP tickets, so we skipped the line and entered the place. Here are some pictures I managed to take while inside.

Overall, I did not think it was that scary at all, even though my friend was at times, especially by the actors there that did a pretty good job scaring people. I still think the haunted corn maze in Sterling was better.

After finally leaving the factory, we decided to go grab some drinks at Inhouse Coffee nearby. I got the Red Velvet Steamer, while my friend got the Pistachio Steamer.
I really liked my drink, although it left a red stain on my lips that I was to discover only much later. I did not think as much of my friend's drink, although it was still good. My friend preferred the pistachio one though.

With that, we talked until the cafe closed, with my friend trying unsuccessfully to trick me into getting a "free" refill for my drink, then finally headed home for the night. I'm glad I decided to hang out with my friend tonight. Looking forward to more in future.

On to San Francisco for the weekend for a friend's wedding tomorrow.

October 30th 2014: Checking Out the Tombs of the Old North Church, Boston

Today, I had to leave work a little early to try to catch a lecture at the Old North Church in Boston about the tombs beneath it. Even then, the traffic was so bad that I still ended up late. Must have something to do with the passing of Boston's beloved Mayor Menino.

Thankfully, I did not miss much, and the lecture itself was pretty boring that I found myself dozing off frequently.

Eventually, the lecture ended, and it was time to go check out the tombs themselves, which I have not done before. A flight of stairs led to the basement, where there were lots of piping we had to walk past

to see the tombs,

which weren't really much to look at actually.

After leaving the church, I headed to Arlington for a Mexican dinner at Zocalo Mexican Bistro.
With my deal, I got the Chilapitas (sweet plantains stuffed with shredded chicken, crema mexicana and avocado topped with ranchera and chipotle sauce, cotija cheese and pickled onions)

and the Fish Tacos (baja style beer battered fish with pickled cabbage, cilantro pesto, chipotle mayo, sesames seeds and radish on corn tortillas, black beans on side)

for appetizers, while getting the Chuleta de Puerco (Pork Chop stuffed with homemade chorizo and apples drizzled with adobo balsamic vinaigrette. served with red bliss mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach with garlic, raisins and almonds) for my main dish.

The plantains were pretty creative, while the fish was crispy and delicious. The pork was a little dry, but the sauce and the sides made up for it a little.

My Tres Leches dessert was well presented and excellent as well.
Overall, not too bad for a Mexican place in this area.

October 29th 2014: Dinner at Ho Toy Luau, Worcester

Today after work, I decided to have dinner at Ho Toy Luau, an Americanized Chinese restaurant in at 401 Park Avenue in Worcester. This place is more a restaurant than a takeout place, although the menu was by no means any more inspiring. I decided to go with the Pressed Duckling (Boneless duck meat, deep fried with fine cut Chinese greens, baby corn and straw mushrooms),
which wasn't too bad, the duck being crispy, though nothing amazing.

October 28th 2014: Dinner at the Galway House, Boston

Today after work, I went for a meetup dinner at the Galway House, an Irish bar restaurant in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston.

In the end, not many people showed up because of the inaccessibility of the area, and when we finally got to ordering, I decided to go with the Cajun Blackened Prime Rib (20 oz Prime Beef charbroiled with Cajun Spices), with sides of Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw.
Unfortunately, the steak was way too blackened, and after a while, I decided not to ingest any more cancer causing material and stopped eating.

After leaving the place, I decided to get some Caribbean takeout from Nu Flav Restaurant, a typical small place in a sketchy area of town.

I decided to go with the Fried Goat,

the Buffalo Mac and Cheese with Chicken (creamy, rich mac and cheese with a little kick),

the BBQ Rib Plate (1/2 slab of BBQ pork ribs served with French Fries)
and the Stewed Ragu (Cow Feet).

The goat was tasty with the texture of beef jerky, while everything else was pretty good as well. Not coming back though because of the sketchiness of the area.

October 16th 2014: Eating in Logan Airport Terminal C

I was heading out of the country for a week of vacation, and although I had trouble making my way to the Boston Logan Airport from work, I managed to arrive early enough at Terminal C to eat some food.

Johnny Rockets had just closed for the day, so I was forced to eat at Wolfgang Puck Express, which seemed like it was going to close as well. From here, I got the Italian Bistro Sandwich (soppressata, mortadella, salami, pepperoni, provolone, oven roasted tomatoes, arugula, zucchini tapenade),
which was just a typical sandwich, nothing more.

I was still hungry after the sandwich, so I went to the Boston Beer Works nearby for more food, getting the Beer Basted BBQ'D Steak Tips (marinated sirloin tips served with whipped potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables, cornbread and coleslaw)
This time, the meat was cooked just right and delicious in its marinade, with the cornbread being a nice addition to the dish as well.

With that, I was off to Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong for the rest of the week. No more entries from me till I get back.

October 15th 2014: Dinner with Friends at New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant, Boston

Today after work, I headed into Boston for a dinner with friends at the New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant in the Chinatown area of Boston. Before that, I decided to try to use my deal at Truffles Fine Confections, located within the Copley Place mall in downtown Boston. I had to walk a bit to get there, only to find that the employee working behind the counter had no idea how to redeem my coupon for me, and refused to do so. I still ended up getting something, a box of truffles.
Hope my friend likes them.

In Chinatown, I had to park at the parking lot for Crave: Mad for Chicken, the restaurant which serves Korean Chicken which is apparently better than Bonchon. I was told by the parking attendant that I had to show him a receipt from the place afterward, which meant that I would have to order more food here later.

I was one of the last ones to reach the restaurant, but just in time for ordering.

The Deep Fried Milk appetizer was pretty unique and delicious as well, with the condensed milk dip.
The rest of the dishes we got were pretty typical but good.
Clams with Black Bean Sauce
Spicy Salt Chicken
Chicken with Ginger and Scallion
Ma Po Tofu
Pea Pod Stems with Garlic
Spicy Salt Calamari
Sizzling Filet Steak with Black Pepper
Fish Filet with Veggies
We also got a complimentary dessert at the end, which was much like the milk dish.
After a delicious dinner, I headed to Crave to get my chicken.
There was not much people here tonight, so I did not have to wait very long  for my 8 pieces of Angry (Spicy Garlic) Chicken to come.
Pretty good and crunchy, but I could not tell whether it was better than Bonchon. At least the receipt was of use so my parking was free tonight.

October 14th 2014: Dinner at the Sky Box Lounge, Hingham

After work today, I decided to head all the way to Hingham to use my Groupon which was to expire soon at the Sky Box Lounge, which was pretty much a small bar cafe serving the South Shore Sports Center. The menu wasn't very interesting at all, and in order touse my deal, I was forced to order a lot of stuff, getting a bottle of Gatorade, the Chicken Tenders

and the Mozzarella Sticks.
 Nothing extraordinary, as expected.
