September 12th 2020: Center Springs Park, Manchester CT

 This morning, we decided to check out Center Springs Park in downtown Manchester CT at the corner of Bigelow Street and Main Street. Nice park, 

with the Cheney Rail Trail located at one end of the park.

My main goal here was to look for the waterfalls here, which were really hard to find, being fenced off, but thankfully I found a path on the way back to the lower falls, which were nothing but a trickle,

The main upper falls were not any more special either, being marred by graffiti.

From here, it was on to West Hartford CT,

Our destination was the KT Bakery, a small Vietnamese place in West Hartford.

We ate outside of course,

getting their specials for the day, Bun Mam

and Mi Kho,

which came with a side of soup.

Very authentic and delicious, although with a touch of MSG.

We got the Che Ba Mau for dessert,

and several mooncakes and Banh Pia to go.

Pretty good meal, and desserts too. 

June 10th 2017: Roses at Elizabeth Park, West Hartford CT

I started out this morning in the town of Marlborough,

Yawkey Sports Training Center

having breakfast at Main Street Cafe, a somewhat decent diner in the downtown area,

getting the Steak Tip, Mushroom and Cheese Grapper (fresh sauteed mushrooms, marinated steak tips and cheese in grilled wrap served with home fries),

which was pretty tasty.

Later on in the day, we headed to Elizabeth Park in West Hartford CT, where the roses were somewhat blooming. The pictures I took here follow.

After leaving Elizabeth Park, we headed to lunch at Mount Everest Spice, an Indian restaurant in town.

The buffet spread was really small, so it was good we had a coupon to use, with which we got the Garlic Naan (Leavened bread baked in a tandoor with garlic and cilantro), the Aloo Paratha (Whole wheat bread stuffed with spiced potato mixture and baked in tandoor) and the Boti Kebab Masala (tender mutton marinated overnight in a spicy onion masala and a touch of yogurt).

The food was just alright I guess, being a little on the sour side.

For dessert, we headed next door to the Elmwood Pastry Shop, a hole in the wall dessert place,

where we got the Tiramisu.

At least the cake was better than our Indian lunch.

After our meal, we headed into the downtown area,

where the event Celebrate! West Hartford happened to be going on.

After walking around the carnival for a bit, we headed to the Blue Back Square area to shop around

before heading to another mall in Manchester CT, the Shoppes at Buckland Hills.

With that, we headed toward home, deciding to stop by Sturbridge back in Massachusetts for a bite at Sturbridge Seafood, a popular seafood place in town.

We got the Raspberry Point Oysters and Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers,

and the Paella (shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, chicken, sausage, peas, saffron rice) for our main dish.

The raw stuff were fresh, while the paella was simply heavenly with all its rich flavors. Glad we decided to stop here for dinner.
