January 23rd 2018: Driving Around in Freezing Rain

I ventured out today in the freezing rain to the town of Leominster,

in the form of a Ham Egg and Cheese Sandwich.

Filling, but nothing special.

Later in the day, I headed out to Harvard to check out the Fort Devens Museum, located on the third floor of 94 Jackson Street. Hard to find, and small.

From here, I headed into Ayer,

getting a Vanilla Cupcake from Capri Bakery, a hole in the wall place in the downtown area.

A little too sweet in my opinion. With that, I headed back for the day. Glad I did not encounter any black ice while driving.

January 22nd 2018: Doing Stuff in Peabody in the Morning

We had to do some stuff at the Peabody City Hall this morning, but as we were early, we decided to check out the Breaking Grounds Cafe nearby,

getting a Peppermint Hot Chocolate.

It was actually pretty good, and there are interesting games here to play, including Mindtrap, which we had fun with for a bit until the city hall opened.

The interior of the city hall was nothing much to speak of though.

Later in the day, we decided to have lunch at My Sister's Crawfish II in Worcester. This time, we decided to get the Nem Nuong Cuon (Spring Rolls with Grilled Pork Meatballs)

and the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Udon Noodle Soup).

Somehow, the food here today was a little underwhelming. Oh well.

January 21st 2018: A Night of Eating Out in Boston

We decided to return to Pabu tonight, which we were at a few weeks ago, to get a second go at trying out their ramen. This time we were in luck, although the menu was totally different from before. We got the Deep Fried Gyoza (scallion vinegar)

and the Chicken Karaage (spicy mayo) for appetizers,

the Shio (Salt) ramen (pork chasu, scallion, enoki mushroom, menma, soy cured egg)

and the Mazemen (rich garlic sauce, spicy chicken soboro, scallion, togarashi, 63 degree soft egg).

The appetizers were just alright for what they cost, while the ramen was actually pretty decent. On top of it, we did not even have to pay for anything as it was all included in the bill. Unfortunately, there was nothing interesting on the menu for dessert, so we decided to head nearby instead to Caffe Nero, a pretty nice cafe at 560 Washington Street with somewhat grand decor.

However, the delicious Limoncello Mascarpone Cake we got was still not enough,

so we headed into Chinatown for more dessert at Beard Papa's, getting the Green Tea Mini Eclairs.

Crispy, but on the verge of getting hard because they had been out all day. Really good though, with vanilla filling.

With that, a night of eating out in Boston came to an end.

January 19th 2018: A Quick Bite at Azorean Bistro, Worcester

I decided to take a quick break from work Today, checking out Azorean Bistro,a new restaurant in Worcester that just opened up where Blackstone Bistro used to be at 35 Blackstone River Road, which I visited once a long time back. Still the same decor here as before.

I got the Shrimp Mozambique,

which was actually pretty tasty. Definitely better than the Blackstone Bistro, but still in a pretty crappy neighborhood.

January 18th 2018: Chocolates in Holden, Thai in Marlborough

I was in the Holden area this morning, and decided to check out Stewart's Chocolates, a relatively new chocolatier place in the area. I decided to get a small box of truffles, getting the Apple Pie, Tiramisu, Raspberry and Cinnamon Bun truffles, which were pretty interestingly designed.

Pretty tasty too.

Later in the afternoon, I went to visit the Marlborough Historical Society, which thankfully was open today. Really small place with nothing much at all.

I also went to the Solomon Pond Mall for a bit, getting Pad Thai from Ruby Thai Kitchen, located in the food court there.

Nothing at all like Pad Thai, without any peanuts at all. Not worth trying in the first place.

January 16th 2018: A Quick Bite At Goat's Head Restaurant, Worcester

I had to work late tonight, so I decided to grab a quick bite from Goat's Head Restaurant, a nice cafeteria on the WPI campus at 59 Boynton Street in Worcester which is open to the public.

I couldn't say the same about the food though, typical and the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla (BBQ Chicken, Cheddar Cheese, Onions, Cilantro, and served with sour cream) I got

was just alright, worsened by the onions and cilantro in it. Not coming back again, the student crowd being one reason too.

January 7th 2018: Lunch at Twyrl Pasta Bistro, Arlington

On the way home tonight, we decided to have lunch at Twyrl Pasta Bistro, a new Italian restaurant in the town of Arlington. Pretty nice decor with the casual feel of a cafe.

We got the Chicken Avocado Hot Sandwich (Chicken, cheddar, avocado, salsa, and mayo), but they were out of good avocados so they ended up compensating us with a Small Side Salad (Mixed greens, cucumber, shredded carrots, and crisp celery with creamy balsamic dressing).

We also got the Shrimp Scampi (Sautéed with lemon, garlic, white wine, olive oil, butter and parsley).

I really wanted to like this place. But the simple menu, and the average food, made the other places close by better. Not coming back together.
