May 27th 2017: Asian at Golden Garden and District Kitchen, Malden

Today, we decided to check out the new Chinese restaurant at 9 Highland Avenue in Malden, Golden Garden, which apparently is in the process of moving from its old location in Belmont.

We got several dishes, namely the Tofu Jelly,

the Soybean Milk,

the Green Bean Noodle with Sesame Sauce and Pork with Chinese Cabbage Dumplings.

The tofu was pretty tasty with Szechuan flavors, while you had to add sugar by yourself to the milk to make it sweet. The green bean noodles were just alright, even though the waitress recommended them to us, while the dumplings were not bad. Overall, just an alright experience, with many other options in the area.

Later on in the day, we decided to check out yet another Asian place in town, this time at District Kitchen, which is definitely way more upscale, serving fusion food.

We got the Malaysian Satay (grilled chicken marinated in satay, served with peanut sauce) and Grilled Corn Around the World (Japanese) for food.

The portions were really small, and the satay too salty, while the corn was nothing special. We tried to save the day by trying their dessert. We got the Thai Tea Creme Caramel (delicate caramel flan infused with Thai tea, served with fresh berries),

which was pretty tasty, with Thai tea flavor, so we decided to give another dessert a try, the Garnd Marnier Mille Feuille (twenty layer crepe cake, Grand Marnier Chantilly Creme, strawberry elderflower coulis).

Sadly though, the alcohol was still lingering and made the cake taste a little bitter. Really disappointing meals in Malden today at two new restaurants.

May 26th 2017: Dessert at Honey Honey Dessert Cafe, Malden

After a fun but tiring workout, we decided to get some dessert at Honey Honey Dessert Cafe, a new dessert place in Malden.

We got the Forgiveness Durian (durian, black rice in house special vanilla sauce),

which I actually liked because of the milky creaminess of the sauce, but somehow it was not to the liking of my other half.

I will definitely give this nice cafe a recommend, although I am not sure about my other half.

May 25th 2017: Takeout from Dalat Restaurant, Worcester

Today after work, we got takeout from Dalat Restaurant in Worcester, getting the Mi Thap Cam (shrimps, squids, crabs, sliced porks, fish's cakes, squid & shrimp balls, w/ egg noodle noodles soup).

Pretty good, especially since it's been a while since I last went.

May 24th 2017: Prime Rib at Jimmy's Tavern, Shrewsbury

We decided to get Prime Rib, which was discounted tonight, at Jimmy's Tavern in Shrewsbury.

Besides the Prime Rib, we also tried the Peach Belini (prosecco, peach schnapps, splash of orange juice),

which was just alright by me, and the Crispy Fried Zucchini Sticks (with peppercorn dipping sauce),

which was pretty crispy and flavorful due to the coating and the sauce.

The tab was pretty high though, mainly due to the expensive drink.

May 20th 2017: Lobster Buffet at the Nordic Lodge, Charlestown RI

We have wanted to check out the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown RI for their famous lobster buffet for a long time, so we finally went today. We started out in Northborough with a Cinnamon Coffee Cake,

Way too cinnamony for me.

From here, we went past North Smithfield RI,

and Preston CT

where we checked out Wilcox Park for a bit,

then the Westerly Public Library.

From here, we headed to the Watch Hill area,

Watch Hill Carousel

Watch Hill Beach

where I got to check out East Beach,

Watch Hill Light,

and a bit of Napatree Point,

with Latimer Reef Light far in the distance,

although I did not walk the stretch, as it was time to head for our lobster buffet. The place itself is
located within a pretty isolated area of Charlestown, although there are lots of tour buses bringing loads of tourists here every day. There are fun things to do outside,

while we are waiting for a table inside.

Finally at our table,

it was time to attack the food.

With all the variety available though, we ended up only eating 3 lobsters.
 Definitely spent way too much money here. A good experience, but definitely too expensive.
