We went blueberry picking this morning at Touga's Farm in Northborough.
Fun experience as always, with lots of sweet blueberries. We also tried the Blueberry Donut and Blueberry Scones, which were interestingly green but delicious.
For lunch, we had and Indian lunch buffet at Tandoori Grill, a small but nice looking restaurant in Marlborough, which was empty the whole time we were there.
The buffet included things like Vegetable Pakoras (Fresh vegetables dipped in a delicately spiced batter & deep fried), Papadums, Raita (A tangy mixture of cucumber, tomatoes & carrots in fresh yogurt), Tandoori Chicken (Chicken marinated in a tandoori masala & slow roasted in the Tandoor), Began Bharta (Fresh eggplant slow roasted in the Tandoor, sauteed with the addition of onions, tomatoes, fresh ginger and cilantro), Navratan Korma (Garden fresh vegetables simmered in a gentle cream sauce, garnished with nuts), Plain Naan (Leavened bread baked in the Tandoor topped w/butterrnilk), Chicken Kadai (Chicken Tikka cooked with the addition of coarsely ground cumin, green peppers, tomatoes & onion in an onion & tomato based sauce), Mutter Paneer (peas and cheese in tomato and onion curry with flavors of garam masala and fresh cilantro), Chana Masala (garbanzo beans cooked in spicy tomato and onion sauce with flavors of ginger, cumin, pomegranate etc), Chicken Masala (boneless chicken in mild tomato and cream based curry flavored with fenugreek leaves), Coconut Soup and Kheer.
Pretty good food actually, especially the naan which was crispy and the various curries which were flavorful. Not sure why all the bad reviews.
After checking out Bernardi Toyota in Framingham,
We have been trying to come to Sousaku Bistro in Malden for dinner for a while now because of the interesting stuff on the menu, but never got a chance to do so until tonight. We got the Foie Gras Risotto (pan seared foie gras over Italian crispy fried risotto),
the Mushroom Medley (sauteed mixed mushrooms, garlic and red wine vinegar),
the Shrimp Toast (deep fried mango, cream cheese and shrimp rolled in toast, served with sweet, spicy and sour sauce),
the Crawfish Sousaku Sushi Pizza (deep fried rice, mushrooms, tomato sauce, nori and cheese with crawfish)
and the Fuji Sake (torched salmon wrapped in sliced Fuji apple, served with sweet ume sauce).
Of all the dishes, only the salmon with apple was underwhelmingly simplistic. The foie gras was interesting with the crispy rice, but really tiny in portion. The mushrooms were nothing special either, but the sushi pizza and shrimp toast were both presented well and delicious. Overall, a hit and miss for dinner at this place, but still worth a try I guess.
This blog is to serve as a record of my quest to visit every single town/city in Massachusetts and determine what are the great places to see/restaurants to eat at. Feel free to give me feedback on places that I might have missed out on, especially the great restaurants since I can only eat 3 times a day.
