October 11th 2023: Amici's Fall Festival at Amici's Trattoria, Shrewsbury

Today, we decided to have dinner at Amici's Trattoria in Shrewsbury,

getting the Goat Cheese Pear Salad (mixed greens, with pecans, fresh caramelized pears, marinated tomato, and fresh goat cheese. Served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing)

the Amici's Club Steak (grilled 10-ounce sirloin strip, topped with sun-dried tomato-shallot-Porto wine reduction. Served with mashed potatoes),

the Fettucine Carbonara (Diced prosciutto, peas, garlic, and cracked black pepper in a rich pecorino cream sauce.)

and the Homemade Pumpkin Bread Pudding.

Pretty good, especially the steak, although the pasta was a little on the salty side. 

 

October 10th 2023: Quick Bite at Bay State Brewing Company, Worcester

 Today, we decided to get a quick bite at Bay State Brewing Company in Worcester, getting the Blood Orange Lager (raspberry-like in addition to citrus notes, light lager infused with pureed blood orange fruit with subtle orange aroma, crisp citrus finish and beautiful red hue),

and Wings (chipotle buffalo and BBQ dry rub), which just so happened to be 50 cents a pop today.

Pretty good for cheap.

October 9th 2023: Spicepepper Garden, Acton

 Today, we decided to have dinner at Spicepepper Garden, a Chinese restaurant in Acton,

getting the Ma La Lamb (spicy and numbing),

the Peapod Leaf with Garlic Sauce

and the Zha Jiang Pork Noodle Soup.

Although we had a nagging suspicion that the "lamb" was actually pork, and the bean sauce for the noodles was a little intense, overall not too bad a meal here actually.

October 7th 2023: Lunch and Dessert in Wellesley

 Today, after checking out the Sudbury History Center and Museum in Sudbury,

we decided to get lunch at the Laughing Monk Cafe, a pretty fancy Thai restaurant in Wellesley.

We got the TOM YUM COCONUT SOUP (Chili paste, lime, coconut milk, cilantro, mushroom, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf),

the PAD THAI (Rice noodle, chive, crushed-peanut, turnip, bean sprout, egg)

the VEGGIE TEMPURA ROLL (Yam, shiso, sprout, avocado, mayo) and SHIITAKE ROLL (Black sesame, hot sesame oil).

Really tasty, especially the noodles, no wonder the several locations. 

For dessert, we decided to check out Jeje's Coffee nearby,

getting the Homemade Cranberry Scone,

the Flat White

and the Dutch Brew Iced Mocha.

Pretty good coffee, by apparently one of the top coffee roasters in the USA.

October 5th 2023: Golden House Grill, Worcester

 Today, while in Worcester,

Rockland Trust Plaza,
Canal Street and Green Street

we decided to check out Golden House Grill, a new Mediterranean restaurant in town. 

We got the Beef Shawarma Platter (fries, tahini, hummus, salad and pita bread),

Nothing special, and the beef was a tad hard.

October 3rd 2023: BOGO Pizza at Volturno, Worcester

 Today, we decided to take advantage of the BOGO pizza from Volturno in Worcester, this time getting the Bianca (fried egg, ricotta, mozzarella, garlic confit, caramelized onion, scallion, chili flake)

and the Vongole (littleneck clam, bacon, garlic oil, mozzarella, ricotta, lemon agrumato, parsley).

Not too sure where the fried egg went, and too much onion and garlic for me on the bianca, although the clams were not too bad.

October 2nd 2023: Cold Harbor Brewing Company, Westborough

Today, we decided to check out Cold Harbor Brewing Company in Westborough, a new bar restaurant in town. Nice decor inside and out,

and there was karaoke going on today.

We got the MUSTACHE 5% (DRY IRISH STOUT, Dark, cocoa, roasted coffee aroma, East Kent Goldings)

and the Garden Party (kale pesto, fried eggplant, stracciatella, fresh shaved parmesan. arugula, balsamic reduction).

Pretty good pizza I must say. Definitely worth coming back again.
