A snowy day today, we went with family to the DCU Center in Worcester to watch Cirque du Soleil: Crystal, thankful that we were able to park in a handicapped spot close to the venue. This circus show is different in that it is on ice.
The initial performances were pretty typical, making me think that the show would be a disappointment,
but thankfully some performances were so amazing and death defying that I had to be amazed overall, although OVO did have better costumes.
After the show, we made our way to Pomir Grill for dinner. This time, we got the Sambosa
(baked pastry filled with beef),
the Qurooti (cubes of Afghan bread coated in a yogurt garlic sauce topped with roasted eggplant and onions, finished with a tangy mint and garlic dressing),
the Beef Sampler (Beef short ribs (Afghan boneless short ribs on sautéed onions and tomatoes served with an in-house pomegranate sauce and rice), Kofta (Afghan meatballs cooked in a plum sauce served with rice), and Kabob-e-Kobeda (ground beef kabob with sautéed onions and tomatoes served with bread and salad) served with rice and salad),
the Qourma-e-Gosfand (lamb cooked in a savory apricot sauce)
and the Vegetarian Platter (sampling of kadu borani (Sliced butternut squash baked in a tomato based sauce), BANJAN BORANI (Sliced eggplant baked in a vegetable/tomato based sauce), SABZI CHALAW (Cooked spinach and mixed vegetables), kachalu (potatoes) and lobia (beans)).
Of all the food, only the kabob was a little disappointing, being on the dry side. Everything else was amazing, especially the bread with the eggplant. Glad my family enjoyed their first experience of Cirque du Soleil and Afghan food.
