For lunch today, I decided to head to Upton to eat at the Rose Garden Restaurant, which is more of a dive bar than a restaurant.
I got the only interesting thing on the menu, the Jalapeno Cheese Burger (fresh jalapeƱo melted in with the cheddar cheese and avocado),
which was pretty bland, although the fries were decent. Definitely not coming back again. Rose garden it is not.
Later in the evening, we took a cooking class at Sur La Table in Natick, learning how to cook with a salt block. Really a novelty more than a better substitute for granular salt. In order to use it effectively, it has to be either heated in an oven or stored in a freezer before use.
For the hot block, we cooked shrimp on it, which were pretty tasty in the end.
For the cold block, we made caramel peanut brittle,
which was pretty tasty and crispy at the end of the process.
We were still hungry after the class though, so we decided to go the Met Bar and Grill in the mall, which I visited once a long time ago.
This time, we got the Tokyo (avocado, muenster, pickled onion, sprouts, sticky soy, wasabi mayo) burger,
which was not bad with the mayo, except for the pickled onions, which were not to my liking.
Overall, not a good day for burgers.
This blog is to serve as a record of my quest to visit every single town/city in Massachusetts and determine what are the great places to see/restaurants to eat at. Feel free to give me feedback on places that I might have missed out on, especially the great restaurants since I can only eat 3 times a day.

January 30th 2019: Grilled Cheese at The Coffee Loft, Marlborough
While in the area today, I decided to check out The Coffee Loft, a decent looking cafe in the town of Marlborough.
I got the Hawaiian Grilled Cheese (ham, pineapple and mozzarella pressed on wheat bread),
Which was a little burnt and a little bland.
Two strikes, definitely out.

January 29th 2019: Chinese Takeout from China Taste, Marlborough
Today, I decided to get Chinese takeout from China Taste in Marlborough, which has lunch buffet as well.
I got General Tso's Chicken,
which came with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll.
Absolutely disgusting food. Definitely not coming back again.

January 27th 2019: Checking Out the Vietnamese New Year in Worcester
We decided to go to the Le Hoi Mung Xuan Ky Hoi 2019, held at the Chandler Magnet Elementary School this year.
Pretty run down school, and we left soon after as the scene was a little crowded and the incense was in the air and not good for the little one.
At least we got some food for free.

January 25th 2019: Dinner at Casta Diva Restaurant and Lounge, Northborough
We had dinner tonight at the new restaurant in Northborough, Casta Diva Restaurant and Lounge, which has taken the place of Guiseppe's Grille, which I visited a long time ago. Same layout, nicer decor.
We got the Escargot al Limone (sauteed escargot with onions, garlic and herbs in a lemon white wine sauce served with garlic bread) for appetizers.
Not bad combination of flavors, though bordering on being too salty.
For our main dish, we got the Vitello Napolitana (with sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, capers, roasted peppers in a garlic white wine sauce),
which came with a Zuppa del Pollo (Chicken Vegetable),
and Fried Potatoes.
Having no pasta, we decided to order a side of Alfredo la Rosa Sauce as well.
The soup was pretty good, relying on natural ingredients for its flavor, although the potatoes were a little on the hard side.
The pasta went really well with the veal though, not being too intense in flavor either. Finally, we had Tiramisu for dessert.
A perfect ending to a nice dinner out, which I have not had in a while.

January 24th 2019: Chinese Takeout from Chef Sau, Spencer
Today, I decided to get Chinese takeout from Chef Sau, a restaurant in Spencer, getting the Sesame Beef, which came with Pork Fried Rice, a Chicken Finger
and Hot and Sour Soup.
The soup and beef and not bad, but the rice was too little and had onions, while the chicken was just plain soggy. Definitely not the best of meals.

January 23rd 2019: Pizza Takeout from Revolution Pie and Pint, Worcester
I decided to check out a new restaurant in Worcester, Revolution Pie and Pint,
getting the Worcester State (marinara sauce, mozzarella, roasted pineapple, virginia baked ham, red pepper flakes).
Expensive, and nothing special really. Not much interesting stuff on the menu either. Not coming back again.

January 18th 2019: Yet Another Farewell Lunch at Via, Worcester
We had another farewell lunch at Via Italian Table in Worcester today. This time, I got the Fried Mozzarella for appetizers,
the HOUSE SMOKED PORK SHOULDER (SMOKED PORK SHOULDER, SWEET POTATO PURĆE, ASIAGO, LEEKS, MUSTARD GREENS) pizza for the main course,
and the MICHELANGELATO” 5 Cone SAMPLER (PALETTE OF MINI CONES MADE FROM OUR HOUSE MADE ITALIAN GELATI AND SORBETTI: anticlockwise from top right: LIMONCELLO sorbetto, BLOOD ORANGE sorbetto, SALTED CARAMEL Gelato,PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP Gelato, STRAWBERRY Gelato).
The cheese was just so-so, although the pizza was delicious, though bordering a little on the salty side. The ice cream flavors were excellent though, especially the salted caramel and the blood orange flavors. Once again, an excellent meal at the best Italian restaurant in town.

January 17th 2019: Lunch at Skyline Bistro, Worcester
Today, I decided to go check out the Skyline Bistro, a pretty nice looking restaurant located in the Worcester Technical High School,
and run by students as well.
I decided to go with the Open Steak Sirloin Sandwich (8 oz. sirloin steak is lightly seasoned and cooked with maitre’d butter and garnished with onion rings. Served on garlic toast. Served with fries and coleslaw),
which was absolutely delectable. I have to say, I am really impressed, especially because it is run by students, despite the simple menu, the limited hours of operation and the cash only policy. A definite recommend by me.

January 15th 2019: A Drink from Bedlam Book Cafe, Worcester
I decided to check out the Bedlam Book Cafe in Worcester today.
Unfortunately, they only serve drinks here, of which I got the Audre Lorde (banana, strawberry, blueberry, soy milk).
Nothing special, and not much for 5 bucks.

January 13th 2019: Lunch at the Hopedale Country Club
Today, we decided to have lunch at the Hopedale Country Club, a small place in Hopedale.
The restaurant here is Carnivores All American BBQ, which just recently relocated from Milford.
We got the BBQ Combo (Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, French Fries, BBQ Beans),
which was really tasty, especially the brisket with its fattiness. Glad we decided to check this place out today.

January 10th 2019: Meals at 2 Cafes in Worcester
This morning, I decided to check out two cafes in Worcester, firstly Agrizzi Cafe, located within the Winsor Building.
This place has both indoor
and outdoor seating.
From their selection of pastries, I got the Mini Chicken Croquets,
which were a tad salty in my opinion. Probably not coming here again.
Next, it was the much nicer looking Fuel America cafe,
where I got the North Ender (Ham, Salami, Cheese, Hot Relish, Nut-Free Pesto Spread, Spring Mix & Lemon Vinaigrette).
which was actually pretty tasty. I even had enough for lunch.

January 8th 2019: Breakfast at City Line Diner, Worcester
This morning, I decided to check out the new diner that has taken the place of the Friendly's on Main Street in Worcester, City Line Diner.
Pretty nice decor to say the least.
I got the Bacon Cheeseburger Benedict (with 2 burger sliders and bacon, topped with homemade cheese sauce, served over grilled slider buns)
which was well presented and pretty tasty too. A definite recommend from me with interesting stuff on the menu too.
