July 19th 2026: Spending the Day in Salem

Today, we decided to spend the day in Salem,

Hawthorne Hotel

Charlotte Forten Park,
289 Derby Street

Narbonne House

Hawkes House

Eastern Bank

Shetland Park

visiting the Destination Salem

and the Waite and Peirce Park Store visitor centers,

and checking out a few museums for free, including the Custom House,

and the Derby House.

For food, we started out at Wolf Next Door Coffee,

getting the Kouign Amann

and the Matcha Latte (Fern, moss, turnip).
Not too bad for a start.

Lunch was at Bambolina/Kokeshi, a pizza place with Asian options as well.
we got the Forest Mushroom (roasted garlic alfredo, arugula, fresh mozzarella, Wood fired Mushrooms, Pecorino Romano, Truffle oil)
and the Vietnamese Noodles (spicy broth, ground pork, carrot, cilantro, lime, carrots, bean sprouts).
Really good pizza, but the noodles were extremely salty. Still haven't learnt our lesson that food that restaurants don't specialize will probably not be good.

For dessert, we were and A and J King Artisan Bakers at 48 Central Street,

getting a Croissant,
a Latte
and a Chicken Salad (herb-roasted chicken salad with a touch of house mayo and seasonal greens on seeded honey oat).

Nothing special here though.

With that, an end to a day of hanging out in Salem.
