August 26th 2022: Mochi Donut and Indian Burrito in Worcester

Today, while at work, I decided to head out for lunch, getting a Cookies and Cream Mochi Donut from Mochi Doh, a newly opened donut place at 209 Harding Street in Worcester,

and the Chicken Frankie (burrito with chicken curry and salad) from Namaste Woo, an Indian stall located within the Worcester Public Market nearby.

The donut was pretty chewy and tasty, while the curry was interesting though leaky through the burrito. Pretty good meal, although not worth a second try, because of the limited selection of donuts and the food court atmosphere of the Indian food.

August 17th 2022: Takeout from Penang, Waltham

 Today, while in Waltham,

Boston Children's Hospital at Waltham
We decided to get takeout from Penang, this time getting the Shrimp with String Bean Malaysian Style (Sauteed Shrimp. String Beans With Spicy Malaysian Shrimp Paste Sauce),
the King Pork Buff (Deep Fried Chop In An Authentic B.B.Q. Sauce),
the Penang Poh Piah (Steamed Malawian Spring Roll Stuffed With Jicama Bean Sprouts And Shrimp (Vegetarian Also Available))

the Spicy Thai Chicken (half, Chicken (With Bone & Skin On) Served Over Chef's Special sauce)
and the Clay Pot Noodles (Home Style Noodles With Vegs, Pork, Shrimp & Egg Gravy, Served In A Clay Pot).
The string beans and chicken were not too bad, but the pork, poh piah and noodles were really terrible, with the poh piah being flavorless, the pork being so small in portion with lots of bones, and the soup just so-so. Never coming back again. Should have gotten Bonchon instead.

August 13th 2022: Second Time at Hundred Miles, Quincy

After checking out the new H-Mart in Quincy, we decided to have lunch at Hundred Miles Chinese Restaurant, which we have been to in the past, this time getting the Pan-Fried Scallion Pancake,

the Hot Chili Pepper Chicken,

the Dan Dan Noodles with Hot Peanuts Sauce,

and the Xiao Long Bao (Mini Juicy Pork Dumplings).
Really good stuff as always, especially the well-marinated chicken and the peanut sauce for the noodles. H-Mart itself was big, but nothing special. Guess we will come back when the food court opens.

August 12th 2022: Dinner at Jimmy's Tavern, Shrewsbury

Today, we decided to get dinner at Jimmy's Tavern in Shrewsbury, this time getting the “Jimmy” Burger (Bacon strips, cheddar & fried egg), which I did not get to try, and the Beer Battered Fish & Chips (Seasoned fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce).

Crispy and fresh I must say, although the burger, not so much.

August 11th 2022: Wendy's, Westborough

Today, as we were way to early for class, we decided to get a quick bite from the Wendy's in Westborough,

getting the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich (A juicy chicken breast marinated and breaded in our unique, fiery blend of peppers and spices topped with pepper jack cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, crunchy dill chips, and a drizzle of habanero hot honey sauce all on a toasted bun.)
Pretty good actually, I must say, especially with the dill chips.

August 10th 2022: More Restaurant Week at Via Italian Table, Worcester

Today, Restaurant Week was spent at Via Italian Table in Worcester, this time getting the SHRIMP SCAMPI (pan seared shrimp tossed with grape tomatoes, parsley, and garlic in a white wine lemon butter sauce, served over spaghetti),

the BERKSHIRE PORK OSSO BUCO (braised for hours until fall off the bone tender, served over herbed-romano polenta with a roasted red pepper sauce and gremolata),

the BOLOGNESE ARANCINI (fried risotto balls with Bolognese stuffing)
and the Centorri Moscato di Pavia, IGT Lombardy, IT, 2020.
The drink was pretty good, the arancini crispy and not too sour, while the pork was tender as desribed, and the pasta tasty with fresh crisp shrimp. Another excellent meal here to say the least.

August 9th 2022: Restaurant Week at Sole Proprietor, Worcester

Today, we decided to bring the family out to dinner at the Sole Proprietor in Worcester,

this time getting the Chateau La Freynelle, Bordeaux, 2020,

the BANG BANG BROCCOLI (LIGHTLY FRIED BABY BROCCOLI TOSSED IN A SPICY SWEET THAI CHILI SAUCE.),
the TUNA POKE (DICED YELLOWFIN TUNA, AVOCADO, SCALLIONS AND CILANTRO IN AN ASIAN STYLE SAUCE. SERVED ON CRISPY FRIED WONTONS.),
the CUP CLAM CHOWDER,

the Caesar Salad,
the NEW YORK SIRLOIN (Twelve ounces of well-marbled and closely trimmed New York Sirloin, served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus topped with demi glace.),
the HALIBUT (HAZELNUT AND PANKO ENCRUSTED HALIBUT TOPPED WITH A MANGO SAUCE SERVED WITH JASMINE RICE AND SAUTÈED GREEN BEANS.)
and the SESAME TROUT (PAN SEARED TROUT OVER MASHED POTATOES AND SAUTÈED BROCOLINI, TOPPED WITH A SESAME AIOLI.).
Really good food as always, especially the crispness of the trout skin and the broccoli, as well as the anchovies which came with the salad, which were fresh and not too salty. The only disappointment was the steak, which was on the dry side. Guess we should stick to the seafood.

August 7th 2022: Hot Pot and Ice Cream in Brookline

Today, we decided to have hot pot at La Mei Hot Pot in Brookline, which we visited once a while back before the pandemic got into full swing. This time around, we got hot pot, getting the Three Taste Flavors (Chinese Butter, Tomato Broth, Wild Mushroom Broth),

ordering High Choice Lamb, Baby Bok Choy, Watercress, Crown Daisy,

Lobster Tail,

Headless Tiger Shrimps,
Kobe Beef,
Handmade Fish Paste
and the Fried Crispy Milk for dessert.
Not bad, and fresh, with tasty broths, and the dessert was exceptionally crispy yet mildly sweet, going well with the sauce provided as well. Extremely expensive beef though.

My little one was not satisfied though, so we went nearby to Drink Me, a small bubble tea place, for some dessert,
getting a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
Maybe we should have gotten a bubble tea instead, as the ice cream was just alright. I don't like the rundown look of the place.

August 6th 2022: Breakfast at Chick-fil-A, Westborough

Today, we decided to get breakfast at the Chick-fil-A in Westborough,

this time getting the Peach Milkshake,
the Sausage Egg and Cheese Biscuit

and the Chick-fil-A Chick-n-Minis™ (Bite-sized Chick-fil-A® Nuggets nestled in warm, mini yeast rolls that are lightly brushed with a honey butter spread), which came with Hash Browns (Crispy potato medallions cooked in canola oil).

The shake and hash browns were okay I guess, but the bread for the chicken was soggy, and the chicken itself was a tad salty. Never a good experience here in my opinion, but at least my little one got to play in the play area here.

August 5th 2022: (Not So) Spicy Meal at Westborough Korean Restaurant

In the search for spicy food, we decided to head to Westborough Korean Restaurant in Westborough today for dinner,

This time getting the Soon Dae (steamed Korean blood sausage served with soybean paste and seasoned salt),
the Ramen Noodles,
the Ahgoo Maewoon Tang (monkfish with vegetables in spicy broth)
and the Spicy Rice Cake (rice cakes in a hot and spicy chili sauce with vegetables).
The blood pudding was an interesting experience, though a little on the bland side without the salt, while the ramen was definitely straight out of a packet. The stew was not too bad, minus points for the bones on the fish, while the rice cakes were not bad too. Overall, still not up to my other half's standard/

August 2nd 2022: Third Time at Chuan Shabu, Worcester

Tonight, we decided to have a late dinner at Chuan Shabu in Worcester.

This time around, we got the Beef Flank Noodle Soup

and the Fish Filet in Hot Wok.

Pretty good flavor in both dishes, although my other half thought the fish was not spicy enough. Good meal here though, for cheaper than most other cuisines.

August 3rd 2022: More Chinese Food in Worcester

For the second day in a row, we decided to have Chinese food in Worcester, this time going to Red Pepper.

This time around, we got the Noodles Minced Pork Sauce

and the Mala Pot (happy family).

Much better here, and up to my other half's standard. Gonna get a tummy ache tomorrow though due to the spice.
