Lunch was at
Vivian's Market Style Cafe, a pretty nice Mediterranean cafe in West Boylston,
where I got a Lamb and Beef Gyro, which was actually pretty good.
Nothing special on the menu overall though.
Dinner was at
Ostra, a pretty high end seafood restaurant close to the
Charles Playhouse, where we were to go to watch the
Blue Man Group.
The table setting itself was pretty nice, with a horseshoe crab on the plate.
We got some sort of Potato Bread for starters,
which was just alright in my opinion.
For appetizers, we got the Saffron Fettuccini (Alaskan King Crab, Crème Fraiche, Lemon & Chives).
The pasta itself should have been cooked longer, but everything else was delicious, especially the sauce.
For the main course, we got the Roasted Monkfish Loin (Foraged & Exotic Mushroom Ragout, Fine Herbs, Shaved Matsutake).
Excellent sauce and mushrooms, and perfectly cooked fish.
For dessert, we got the Snow Egg (Meringue, Lemon Curd Mousse, Raspberry, Basil)
and the Chocolate Hazelnut Cremeux* (Popcorn Ice Cream, Salted Caramel, Pop Rocks).
The presentations were simply amazing, especially the "egg", with all its individual components coming really well together, and who knew pop rocks, popcorn and chocolate hazelnut could sound and taste so good together in the same sentence. Amazing meal. Enough said.
With regard to the show itself,
It was still pretty much the same as it was 3 years ago when I
first watched it. A little disappointing in my opinion. At least my other half enjoyed it immensely. Perhaps that's why it wasn't a full house today, or it could be because
Star Wars opens in the theaters today.
