July 23rd 2017: Sunflowers and Gambling in Connecticut

Southeastern Connecticut was our destination for today, starting with the town of Griswold CT,
Old St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church,
1861 Glasgo Rd
Glasgo Pond, 1840 Glasgo Road
our destination being Buttonwood Farm,

where the sunflower field was in bloom.

There is a small hill at the back of the field where one can look over the entire patch of sunflowers.
This place sells ice cream too, so we had to get some, getting the Lemongrass Coconut flavor.
The weird lemongrass flavor and coconut flakes did not go down well with me, but thankfully my other half liked it.

After leaving the farm, we headed to the Foxwoods Resort Casino in the town of Ledyard CT, passing by the town of Preston CT along the way.
St. Catherine of Siena
Preston City Bible Church
The casino is really nice on the outside,
and huge on the inside,

with a shopping mall

and lots of fancy restaurants as well,
David Burke Prime Steakhouse
Golden Dragon
Sugar Factory
of which we decided to go for a quick meal at Noodles, a Chinese takeout place inside,

getting the Szechuan Wontons with Chilli Oil and BBQ Pork with Thin Egg Noodles,

which were actually pretty good. Really wasn't expecting it from this fast service place.

We also got some cake from Fay Da Bakery next door,
getting the Passion Fruit Cheesecake
and the Japanese Cheesecake.

I can see why these restaurants can hold their value in this casino.

After finally leaving the casino, we headed back to Worcester for some more dessert at Tastetea Rolls, a new rolled ice cream place that just opened up this weekend at 423 Park Avenue in town.
We got the Matcha Madness (green tea, red bean, condensed milk),
which was not bad in my opinion, though a little sweet to my other half.

I guess rolled ice cream is becoming the next fad. A good day spent in Connecticut though, and we actually won at Blackjack today.
