but as we had arrived early and were hungry, we decided to check out Canggio, a new Peruvian restaurant in town, instead.
Along with the complimentary Peruvian "popcorn", which thankfully wasn't burnt,
we got the Chupe De Camarones (A chowder of shrimp with a spicy tomato based broth topped with a quail egg),
the Papa Rellena (Potato croquette stuffed with beef, peas, hard boiled egg, botija olives golden fried and served with cilantro sauce aji verde, and pickled onion salsa criolla),
the Albaca (Spinach and basil creamy pesto tossed with linguine served with steak),
and finally the Picarones (Pumpkin & sweet potato old-fashioned fried donuts served with a fruity and spicy syrup) for dessert.
The soup was a little on the salty side, although the croquette and pasta were really tasty and perfectly composed. The alcohol in the dessert was a little strong though.
Overall though, not a bad meal in a nice setting. As for the house party itself, it was a pretty fun time leaving work aside for a bit, although it was quite a long drive home after that.
Such parties are amazing! I remember organizing a party like this in one of the nearby event locations. My cousin decorated the place and we had amazing food from outside. I would love to have a get together like that again in my life. It was nice coming across this post.
