Starting out early this morning in Manhattan NY,

The Cloister, 321 East 43rd Street |
|
785 Eighth Avenue |
heading to
Dominique Ansel Workshop, the second branch of a bakery we visited
a while back,
this time getting the Almond Croissant,
the Brown Sugar DKA (Dominique's Kouign Amann, caramelized croissant with dark brown sugar),
the Olive Oil Croissant (With cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and a hint of rosemary and garlic) and Sea Salt Hazelnut Praliné Flan (A French-style flan with hazelnut pastry cream baked in a laminated brioche nest, hazelnut praliné, and Maldon sea salt).
The flan was pretty good, although the olive oil croissant was too savory for my liking.
before heading for lunch in Fairfield CT at
Mecha Noodle Bar, which has several locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
We got the VIETNAMESE COFFEE (iced),
the SPICY MISO (red miso, chashu, mushrooms, chili oil)
and the Pho King (fermented bean short ribs, egg, brisket & marrow oil).
Really flavorful I must say, can see why they have many locations.
For dessert, we headed next door to
Milkcraft,
getting the Toasted Almond Butter (marcona toasted almonds, sea salt).
Way too much almond flavor for my liking. Not coming back again.
With that, we headed home, ending our 2 day vacation in Connecticut and NYC.
