April 25th 2024: Breakfasts in Northborough and Melrose, Dinner in Westborough

Today, I had two breakfasts, one at IHOP in Northborough,

getting the Ham and Cheese Omelette Combo (ham, jack and cheddar and white cheese sauce. Served with 2  fluffy buttermilk pancakes topped with whipped real butter)

and in Melrose

MelroseWakefield Hospital

at Jitters Cafe, getting the Chicken Pesto Pressed Panini (Oven roasted chicken breast, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers and basil pine nut pesto on focaccia)

Not bad meals in 2 different towns.

Dinner was at Mandarin Restaurant in Westborough, getting the Yuen-Yang Spicy Beef (in a hot pepper sauce on a bed of string beans)

and the Sauteed seasonal greens (pea pod stems).

Excellent meal from this place, especially the tender beef.

July 3rd 2021: Quick Bites in Melrose

Today, while out in the town of Melrose, I decided to get some food for the little one, getting the Kids Junior Beef (French Fries)

from the Liberty Bell Roast Beef and Seafood branch here in town, and a Peach Classic Frappe

from Kennedy's Ice Cream Bar next door.

Pretty good meal, although the frappe was a tad sweet with canned peaches.

April 11th 2021: Terrible Meal from Lisa's Family Pizzeria, Melrose

Today after passing through the town of Belmont,

Old Waverley Hall,
50 Church Street

We had some takeout from Lisa's Family Pizzeria in Melrose, getting the Shrimp Scampi (Olive Oil, Garlic, Tomatoes, Basil, Oregano.)

Really salty to the point of being inedible. Defintiely not going back again.

July 20th 2018: Another Museum in Lawrence

I started out this morning in Hudson at the Vintage Cafe, a new cafe in town. I was originally looking for Ariba Coffee, which it has replaced, and it opens later, but thankfully the owner was nice enough to open early after seeing me outside. Interesting decor inside.

I got the Raspberry Strudel, which was nothing special.
After work, passing through Northborough
War Memorial, Gale Road and West Main Street
and Nashua NH,
Radisson Hotel Nashua
Ledge Street School
I visited the other Hudson in New Hampshire
Sanders House
Ottarnic Pond
First Baptist Church of Hudson
before heading to Lawrence MA to visit the Essex Art Center before it closed.
With that, I ended my day by getting a Strawberry Smoothie (made with frozen yogurt) from Cloud 9, an ice cream place in Melrose.
A tad too sweet for my liking, made with syrup as well.

January 22nd 2017: Dim Sum in the Morning, Pizza at Night

We went for dimsum this morning at Ming's Seafood in Malden, going really early to avoid the crowds,
but having to wait a little for the egg tarts to be ready.

Later on at night, there was a football game on, so we decided to order pizza from Lisa's Family Pizzeria in Melrose, getting the Wings (8 pieces with honey mustard),
the  Hawaiian BBQ Chicken (No sauce. Grilled chicken, Canadian bacon, bacon bits, pineapple and bbq sauce)
and the White Truffle and Arugula Pizza (No sauce, truffle oil, mushrooms, finished off with fresh arugula and shaved parmesan cheese).
Pretty good meal to share with the family, and the Patriots won by a good margin. Good day to say the least.

November 26th 2016: Shopping in Peabody and Saugus

We were heading north today,  so we started out with breakfast at La Qchara, a nice cafe in Melrose which serves Mexican food.

We got the Valencia Raw Juice (pineapple, carrot, pear, mint, apple),

The Mexico Chia Pudding (ginger chia Pudding topped with sliced bananas, Shredded coconut)

And the Huevos Rancheros (2 Crispy corn tortillas with a black bean spread,  two eggs,  salsa, Queso fresco, served with Sweet plantains and black beans).

Pretty decent and healthy meal,  with lots of interesting stuff on the menu.  Definitely would like to come back again some day.

Our next stop was the  Northshore Mall in Peabody for some shopping, which was decked up in Christmas decorations.

We also stopped by Danvers for a bit, getting a New England Clam Chowder from Lena's Original Subs, a small deli located within a Christmas tree shop.

Not bad, but nothing special.

Our last stop for the day was the Square One Mall in Saugus,

Where we checked out the froyo place YoPassion,  getting the Kumquat Lemon Honey with Aloe Drink, which was pretty refreshing to say the least.

With that,  a day of Christmas shopping was at an end. Pretty sure there's more to come tomorrow.

April 9th 2016: Meals in Melrose and Quincy

We started off today with breakfast at Jitters Cafe, a nice relaxing place in Melrose.
My other half got the Texan coffee (white chocolate and amaretto),
while I got the Berry Croissant (chocolate, marshmallow, strawberries).
The coffee was not to my liking as always, but the combination of ingredients for the croissant was pretty good actually. I like the atmosphere in this cafe. I would come back here.

After leaving the cafe, we decided to head next door to Bobby C's Ristorante, a pretty upscale Italian eatery.
We got the Seafood Rotolo (Egg Pasta Medallions stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallops, crabmeat, ricotta, spinach and ritz crackers topped with lobster cream sauce)
and the Crab Cakes (with mango, strawberry, Grand Marnier sauce, pineapple),
both specials on the menu today. The crab cakes were delicious with all the fruity flavors, while the pasta was excellent with its seafood stuffing. Once again, another hit in Melrose.

Later in the afternoon, I had the opportunity to visit a few places in Hingham,
Broad Cove, Otis Street and Broad Cove Road
going for a short hike at Jacobs Meadow, which is located behind the Wilder Memorial Nursery School.

I had to walk through the kid's playground and slide through a gate with a thin opening to get to the area, and the short path I took here is shown below in pink.
Nothing much to see here though.

For dinner, we headed to Pho Linh, a Vietnamese restaurant in Quincy I have been to over a year ago.

We got the Banh Cuon Tom (Steamed Rice Roll with Shrimp)
and the Banh Xeo (crispy crepe with coconut and turmeric aroma, enfolding shrimp, steamed pork, bean sprouts and onions. Served with a side of green leaf vegetables and fish sauce),
both of which were pretty delicious in my opinion, although my other half did not think so.

For dessert, we went next door to Yocha as always, this time getting the Green Tea Tiramisu.
Not bad as always.
