July 1st 2025: Tokyo Steakhouse, Saugus

Today, we had lunch at Tokyo Steakhouse in Saugus, which I visited once a long time ago.

This time around, we got the Thai Tomyum broth,

with the Meat Combo (beef and lamb)
and Seafood Supreme (scallops, prawn, salmon, cod, squid, clam, mussels and fish cake)
along with the Crunchy Roll (crab stick, tobiko, tempura crunchy and scallion with chef special sauce) and America Maki (shrimp tempura, avocado and flying fish roe).
Not bad for a family meal.

October 12th 2024: Mexican in Wayland, Korean in Saugus

Today, on the way to Gordon College in Wenham, we decided to stop by a gas station in Wayland serving Mexican food at Yo!Boca!Taco!. We got the Burrito Bowl (barbacoa),

which I have to say was pretty flavorful. They apparently have a second store now in Sturbridge. Good luck to them!

After a fun day for the little one at Gordon College,

we decided to head to K-Town BBQ, a Korean BBQ place in Saugus,
getting the Salad Bar,
the BEEF BULGOGI, Prime Rib, Boneless Short Rib, Garlic Salted Pork Belly, shrimp, Toppoki,

Garlic Noodles,
Spicy Tofu Soup

and Wings.
The food was actually pretty good, although I could not eat much. It is unfortunate we could take take anything home.

November 29th 2019: Breakfast in Revere, Lunch in Saugus, Dinner in Burlington

We had a day of trying new places today, starting with a quick breakfast in Revere at Philly Pretzel Factory, a somewhat fast food sort of place.
I got the Mini Cheesesteak,
which was really bland, and salty in the wrong way. Not a fan of pretzels for sure.

For lunch, we decided to get it from the Boston Market in Saugus,
getting one Rotisserie Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Sweet Corn and Mixed Vegetables. I did not manage to get a picture of the food, but the chicken was actually pretty moist and flavorful.

For dinner, we decided to have it at Chopps American Bar and Grill, a high end steakhouse located within the Boston Marriott Burlington hotel.
Really nice decor to say the least,
with olive oil covered bread for starters.

For food, we got the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (Apple Jicama Slaw, pickled onions, whole grain mustard aioli),
the PETIT FILET  (With Mashed Potato, & Vegetable), which is actually for kids,
and the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (spicy cocktail sauce).
The shrimp was good but way too expensive, while the beef was dry, mainly because it was well done, but the crabcakes were simply excellent, as were the sides. Overall, a pretty good dining experience at this place.

June 20th 2019: Kane's Donuts, Saugus

Having not had dinner yet, I decided to grab a quick bite from Kane's Donuts in Saugus,

getting the CRÉME BRULEE (A yeast style donut made with eggs and flour, filled with vanilla-bean custard, then dipped in a glaze of honey and caramelized by hand with a torch).

Way too sweet for me in my opinion.

May 19th 2019: Buddha's Birthday in Saugus

Today is apparently the birthday of Buddha, so we went to Thiền Viện Vạn Hạnh at 370 Essex Street in Saugus to participate in the activities at the temple.
After leaving the temple, we decided to grab some custard puffs for a party

from Arthur's Pastry Shop in Medford at the High Street location.
Pretty good stuff from this place as always.

July 19th 2018: A Drink in Saugus, Cambodian in Revere

While shopping at the Square One Mall in Saugus today, I decided to get a Mango Pina Colada Smoothie from Sky Bar.

Not bad, but nothing special.

For lunch, we decided to go check out a small Cambodian restaurant in Revere, Thmor Da.

Not knowing what to get, we got a Durian Fruit Shake,

The BBQ (Cambodia Style)

And the Special Thmor Da Yellow Noodle Soup.

The drink was not bad, although my other half felt it had too much ice. The skewers were better than most satay dishes i have had in America though. The noodles were alright as well.

Overall, an okay experience in a sketchy part of town.

July 16th 2018: Lunch in Saugus, Dessert in Peabody

We decided to have lunch today at the Continental, a big but old fashioned restaurant in Saugus. Nice decor, but somehow there was a stench of sewage in the air.

Not wanting to stay long, we decided to just get the Continental's Famous London Broil (with mushroom gravy),

Which came with interesting starters

And a salad.

The food was pretty good, and if not for the stench and the elderly clientele here, I might actually come back.

For dessert, we decided to check out the Caffe Nero at the Northshore Mall in Peabody,

getting the Almond Cream Cake

And the Coffee Milkshake.

The cake was not too almondy, although the drink was too bitter for my liking.

July 7th 2018: Thai in Worcester, Candy in Shrewsbury

For lunch today, we decided to go for some Thai buffet at Racha Thai in Worcester,

which I went to once several years ago.
Stuff  at the buffet included Tom Yum Chicken Soup,

Pad Mee, Vegetable Rolls, Coco Jelly, Thai Chicken Wings, Fried Rice, Chicken String Bean, Cashew Nut Chicken, Prik Prak Chicken and Basil Chicken, of which I really liked the Pad Thai, Red Curry Chicken and Spicy Noodles. Everything else was just so-so. We had our fill though.

On the way home, we decided to stop by the Hebert Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury,

getting some free White Chocolate Pretzels
and buying some Salt Water Taffy.
The sweets were pretty good, although the pretzels were just so-so. Might come back in future for ice cream.

To finish things off, I got a Junior Roast Beef Sandwich from Giovanni's Roast Beef and Pizza at their Saugus location.
Not bad. No wonder they have so many locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
