August 7th 2026: Eating from Revere to Shrewsbury

Today, we started out at the Dunkin' Donuts in Revere,

Getting the new Kreme Delight.
A tad sweet though.

From here, it was on to Newton,
Cow Parade, 300 Boylston Street

revisiting the House of Noodles,
this time getting the Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle (Rice noodle soup in a unique river snail broth with pickled vegetables, wood ear mushroom, dried lily flower, baby bok choy, fried egg, peanuts, green onions, and chili oil.)
and the Pho Beef (Vietnamese pho with tender slices of rare eye round steak and well-done brisket, served with rice noodles, fresh basil, bean sprouts, and lime in an aromatic beef broth.).
The snail broth was not bad despite the foul fermented smell of the pickled vegetables, but the meat for the pho was way overcooked and tough.

Later, dinner was from the Domino's in Shrewsbury, getting the Chicken Alfredo (Grilled chicken breast and creamy Alfredo sauce is mixed with penne pasta and baked to creamy perfection.)

An okay day of eating from Revere to Shrewsbury.

September 21st 2022: Cut 21, Revere

Today, after some time playing soccer with the little one at the Glavin Soccer Fields at 229 Lake Street in Shrewsbury,

we decided to get dinner at Cut 21, a posh steakhouse in Revere. We got the Kids' Chicken Tenders with French Fries

and the Grilled Swordfish (cauliflower steak, spinach, tzatziki).

The chicken was actually not bad, being crispy, as were the fries. The swordfish was a little dry though, although the cauliflower had some flavor to it together with the spinach. Should have ordered the steak I guess.

August 25th 2021: Lunch in Revere, Dessert in Cambridge

Today, while in the Greater Boston area, we decided to get lunch at Dryft in Revere, which we visited a few months back. This time, we sat in a different area of the restaurant.

This time, we got the SAILOR’S DELIGHT (St. George Citrus Vodka, orgeat, lemon juice, basil simple syrup, strawberry puree, soda water)
the SEAFOOD PLATTER (oysters, clams, lobster, shrimp),
the GRILLED OCTOPUS (mashed potatoes, spinach, chorizo vinaigrette),

the EARTH BOWL (quinoa, kale, peppers, sugar snap peas, corn, brussels sprouts, goat cheese crumble, avocado, lemon vinaigrette),

the CHICKEN “UNDER A BRICK” (mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, chicken jus)
and the Coconut Panna Cotta with Pineapple Jam for dessert.
The drink was alright, although I did not like the cherry flavor to it. Everything else was excellent, the octopus not being too tough, going extremely well with the chorizo sauce, the lemon vinaigrette in the salad blending well with the flavor of the brussels sprouts and quinoa, the chicken being crispy yet moist, and the panna cotta not being too sweet to allow for the pineapple to shine.

After another delicious meal at this place, we decided to check out an ice cream place in Cambridge, the Honeycomb Creamery.

We got the Jasmine and Sea Salt Ganache, Pistachio Rose, Horchata, Honey Lavender flavors with Honeycomb Candy.
Nice presentation, but the flavors tasted really weird. Not going back again.

November 21st 2020: Walking to Revere along the Northern Strand Community Trail

Today, we decided to take a walk along the Northern Strand Community Trail, heading from Malden

into Revere, where the path is still not fully paved, stopping at the Route 1 bridge over the path.

As our little one was tired out by then we decided to head back for home, with me carrying our little one all the way home.

January 1st 2020: Gourmet China House, Boston and Dryft, Revere

We headed into the Chinatown area of Boston today, having lunch at Gourmet China House. Pretty nice restaurant serving authentic Chinese food in downtown Chinatown.
We got the Roast Beef with Scallion Pancake
and the Taiwan Dan Dan Noodle.
The pancake was crispy, the beef flavorful, while the noodles were not spicy like others, being more herbal in flavor as compared to the conventional dish. Very good overall though.

As always, while in Chinatown, we had to get something from Corner Cafe Bakery, this time getting the Molten Egg Yolk Bun.
Very good, especially after heating up.

For dinner, we decided to head to Dryft, a new upscale restaurant in Revere, located by the Revere Beach. Really nice decor,
with a special room for larger groups.
For food, we got several dishes, namely the PORK CHOP MILANESE (shaved asparagus salad, blue cheese, exotic mushrooms beef reduction),
the FRUTTI DI MARE (squid -ink spaghetti, shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, tomato),
the CHOPPED SALAD (apple, radicchio, dates, jicama, cucumber, feta, ranch dressing with Grilled Salmon),
the PAN SEARED SCALLOPS (butternut squash, broccolini, mint pistachio pesto),
the GNOCCHI (wild mushrooms, black truffle cream, parmesan)
the SWORDFISH (seasonal vegetables, green goddess sauce)
and the CHICKEN FUSILLI (tomato, prosciutto, spinach, walnut pesto, pecorino).
The pork chop was crispy, yet tender, and the fish were perfectly cooked, going well with the salad and sauces. The scallops were excellent as well, and while the pasta was a little intense in cheesy flavor, they were still delicious, especially the gnocchi. Overall, an excellent meal at this new place in town, and a really good day of eating in Boston and Revere.

November 29th 2019: Breakfast in Revere, Lunch in Saugus, Dinner in Burlington

We had a day of trying new places today, starting with a quick breakfast in Revere at Philly Pretzel Factory, a somewhat fast food sort of place.
I got the Mini Cheesesteak,
which was really bland, and salty in the wrong way. Not a fan of pretzels for sure.

For lunch, we decided to get it from the Boston Market in Saugus,
getting one Rotisserie Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Sweet Corn and Mixed Vegetables. I did not manage to get a picture of the food, but the chicken was actually pretty moist and flavorful.

For dinner, we decided to have it at Chopps American Bar and Grill, a high end steakhouse located within the Boston Marriott Burlington hotel.
Really nice decor to say the least,
with olive oil covered bread for starters.

For food, we got the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (Apple Jicama Slaw, pickled onions, whole grain mustard aioli),
the PETIT FILET  (With Mashed Potato, & Vegetable), which is actually for kids,
and the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (spicy cocktail sauce).
The shrimp was good but way too expensive, while the beef was dry, mainly because it was well done, but the crabcakes were simply excellent, as were the sides. Overall, a pretty good dining experience at this place.

February 2nd 2019: Cafes in Revere and Malden

Today, we decided to check out a few cafes in Revere and Malden, starting off with Brewin Cafe in the downtown area of Revere. The pictures on Yelp somewhat implied this place looked pretty nice, but it was more like a regular hole in the wall kinda cafe, specializing in coffee and bagels.
We got the Tiramisu Latte
and the Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese.
The coffee was just so-so, as were the bagels. Nothing special here.

The next cafe on the list was Sabrine Bakery and Cafe, which was definitely a much nicer looking place, focusing more on Mediterranean food than coffee.
We got the Seafood Briouat,
which was not bad in terms of flavor, but it would have been if it was crispier.

Finally, we headed to Malden to check out the newest bubble tea place, Up Tea Hub, located at 7 Pleasant Street, on a street where there are already 2 other bubble tea places. Nice decor,
and interesting stuff on the menu, of which we got the Pineapple Bun
and the Mango Cheese Tea.
Loved the bun, and although the mild saltiness of the cheese made the drink taste a little weird at first, it grew on me eventually. Definitely an interesting creation, cheese tea, which puts it a league above the other tea places here.
