April 12th 2015: Murder Mystery Dinner, Quincy

I started out this morning with 2 brunches in the South End area of Boston, the first being at Tremont 647, a pretty chic bar restaurant with outdoor patio seating.
The menu was pretty interesting as well, from which I got the Mel's Chicken and Waffle Balls (honey butter and maple syrup)
and the Poutine Fries (maplebrook cheddar curd, 3 chile gravy, bacon).
Both were excellent, especially the balls, an interesting and delectable concept that actually tastes much better than actual chicken and waffles.

The next brunch place was a few blocks up the road at Masa. The place was already getting pretty crowded, but thankfully we did not have to wait long for our seats. We got interesting cornbread starters with different jams and butter on the side,
but they were okay at best, with the jalapeno one tasting a little weird.

All my friends got the Santa Fe Style Eggs Benedict atop Southwestern Biscuits (Avocado Cream, Green Chile Hollandaise and Southwest Home Fries),
while I got the interesting item on the menu, the Tequila and Cilantro Cured Salmon atop Cream Cheese and Roasted Poblano Quesadilla (with Baby Arugula Greens with Tomato and Red Onion).
Really delicious as well, although I did not take to the onion topping.

Overall, Tremont 647 is better, especially in terms of originality, but I do want to check these places out for dinner some day.

After 2 great meals, I went to pick my friend up, after which we went for some dessert at the new dessert place in Quincy, Kozy Desserts at 1247 Hancock Street.

This place is definitely geared towards the younger crowd, especially with all the fun games here.
My friend and I got a total of 3 desserts, namely the Sweet Potato Kozy Sweet Ball Dessert,

the Orchid Flower Yogurt and Ice Cream

and the Mango Pomelo and Sago Sweet Soup.
Although the first dessert was pretty good, there was definitely much less filling in the balls than at Yocha.

The yogurt was pretty good with its presentation, fruit and tartness, while the last dessert was the best of all, the ice cream going well with the rest of the ingredients.

A nice place to bring friends to after dinner, but I still prefer Yocha.

After dessert, we spent some time at relaxing at Nut Island, where the views were amazing this sunny day.

When the time finally came, we headed to the Sons of Italy in town, where we were to attend a Murder Mystery Dinner

A lot of people were dressed up in Prohibition era garb, and the actors talked that way too.

We were ushered to our table,

where we got drinks from the bar (unfortunately they were not included and we had to pay for them), and the food was buffet style.
Nothing special though.

With respect to the events of the night, the rules were placed on the table, with a few fake money bills on the table,
to be used for bribing suspects into giving information.

The main cast went around each table and chose a few people to become suspects for the day, with binders containing information about their personalities. Soon after, all the suspects were brought up on stage and introduced.
Then, the actual murder happened, and we were asked to go around to start interrogating the suspects. I was nominated at first, but did such a poor job at it that others went for the rest of the night.
Even then, we did not manage to guess who the murderer was. They even had an award for the worst guess, the answer provided being so funny.

Overall, not too bad a performance, but I don't think I would do it again, especially because of the food.
