August 12th 2016: Oak Barrel Tavern, Lock 50 and Rocky's, Worcester

Lunch today was a quick one at the new Oak Barrel Tavern in Worcester, a bar restaurant which has taken the place of Tweed's. Definitely much better looking now though.
For food, I got the Bourbon Barbecue Burger (topped with onion rings, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, housemade bourbon barbecue sauce), which came with Sweet Potato Tots on the side.
Really delicious stuff, just gobbled it all down. A much better replacement for Tweed's.

Dinner was at Lock 50, another new restaurant in town. Pretty decent decor to start with.
We got the Sweet Corn Soup (goat cheese, basil),
the Mascarpone Cavatelli (Sweet Corn Puree, Grilled Kernels, Pancetta, Ripped Basil),
the N.E. Boil (Clams | Mussels | Sausage | Corn | Potato | Scape Butter | Gansett Broth)
and finally the Lavender Bavarian Cream (blueberries, shortbread) for dessert.
The corn soup was just so-so, while the pasta tasted just like the corn soup had been poured over it. The boiled seafood was nothing special either, and a really small portion at that too. The only saving grace of the night was the dessert, which was a delight to partake in.

Unfortunately, the meal left us unsatisfied, at which we decided to head nearby to Rocky's, a dive bar with nothing much on their menu, settling for Chicken Fingers with Teriyaki sauce on the side.
The "teriyaki" turned out to be soy sauce, and eating the chicken just made us feel sick. Never coming back again for sure.
