November 2nd 2022: Spending Time with the Little One in 3 Different Towns

Today, while in the area, we started out with a short hike to Hemlock Pond from 45 Young Road, where the path we took here is shown below in pink.

Decent view of the pond, although Young Road seems to be a private road.

From here, we headed into Newton,
The Village Bank

Hamilton Field,
10 Cornell Street

Lower Falls Community Center
then into Wellesley,

Warren Park,
94 Washington Street

getting a quick bite from CK Shanghai, a Chinese restaurant in town.

We got the Five Spices Beef Noodle Soup,
which was pretty tasty and not too herbal. A nice day spending time with the little one in 3 different towns.

July 31st 2021: Eating Out in Waltham

Today, after checking out a few places in Weston,

Weston High School

Weston Memorial Pool,
6 Alphabet Lane

Country Elementary School

Field Elementary School

Lamson Park,
30 Town House Road

We decided to head for lunch in Waltham, where our first stop was Shanghai Cuisine, an authentic Chinese restaurant in town. Somewhat hole in the wall feel to it.
We got the Pan Fried Ho Fun (beef)
and the Braised Dongpo Pork.

Really good food here, especially the melt in your mouth pork. Definitely worth a second try.

Next, after checking out the Waltham Farmers' Market going on nearby,

We decided to go to Indulgenza, a new dessert place nearby,

getting the Coppa Catala Creme Brulee.
Not bad, though a tad sweet.

From here, we decided to check out Royaltea, a bubble tea place across the road with a few locations in Massachusetts.

We ordered the Cheese Avocado drink from the automated machine here.
Just alright I guess, the avocado not being very fresh.

June 15th 2018: Hiking in Burrillville RI After Work

I started out this morning in Medford, getting an Orange Burst Muffin from the Magnificent Muffin and Bagel Shoppe,
which was not a bad start to the morning.

After work, passing through Weston
Weston Veterinary Clinic
and Marlborough
Gersh Insurance, 9 Monument Avenue
into Burrillville RI,
Burrillville United Methodist Church,
185 Joslin Road

where I decided to go on a hike at the Black Hut Wildlife Management Area. The the path I took is shown below in pink.

Many fallen trees along the way, but the water body itself was actually pretty serene.

In order to avoid the fallen trees, I took the really long way out, using the road to walk back to my car. Not sure if I want to come back here again though.

For dinner, it was at Nagoya, a Japanese Chinese restaurant in Medford.

On the Chinese side, I got the Scallion Pancake,

While on the Japanese side, I got the Nagoya Gekikara Ramen (spicy miso pork bone soup ramen).
The pancake was crispy and large in portion, while the ramen was pretty tasty. One of the few times I would actually recommend an Americanized Chinese restaurant. Might come back again for another ramen dish.

May 11th 2018: More Hiking in the Morning

I started out this morning in Lincoln,
Lincoln Cemetery, 98 Lexington Road
going for a short hike at the Flint Fields, the path I took shown below in pink.
Nothing much to see here,
even from the fields here.
Next, the Fernald Woods in town.
Once again, nothing much to see here.
From here, I went to revisit College Pond from the end of Juniper Road in Weston.
Sadly, nothing much this time around.
My last stop for the day was at the Lyons Cutler Reservation in Sudbury, where the path I took is shown below in pink.
Once again, nothing to see here.

What a disappointing morning for hiking. With that, I headed into Worcester for a bite at Grill 352, a new Mediterranean place that has opened up in place of Cafe Manzi, which I visited a long time ago. I got the Kabuli Palau (with lamb shank, raisin and bread),
which wasn't too bad, especially with the tangy sauce provided, but overall, nothing special.

May 4th 2018: Hiking Before Work

Before work today, I started out in Waltham,
YMCA Pond, 725 Lexington Street
Dassault Systemes

going for a hike at the Shady's Pond Conservation Area, located behind a residential area. The path I took here is shown below in pink.
Nothing much to see here though.
From here, it was on to the town of Weston,
Weston Fire Station #2, 290 South Avenue
checking out a few small water bodies in the Weston Reservoir area, the path I took being shown below in pink.
Other than the reservoir itself, the other water bodies here were nothing to speak of.
My last rehike for the day was at the Highland Street Forest area, where the path I took here to explore parts I did not before is shown below in pink.
Other than the pond that seemed to be on private property, nothing else of note in these areas.
With that, I called it a day and headed to work, passing by Wayland
Post Office
along the way.
