July 1st 2015: Dinner at Thao Ngoc, Boston

Today after work, I went with my friend for a Vietnamese dinner at Thao Ngoc at 1331 Dorchester Avenue in the Dorchester area of Boston. We got the Com Tay Cam  (Rice Clay Pot with Shrimp, Chicken and Frog Leg)
and the Oysters with Scallions and Peanut.
Of what our friends ordered, we also got to try the Bo Sao Ca Ry (sliced beef with veggies and curry) and Ka Thit Kho To (caramelized catfish),
the Lobster with Ginger and Scallions,
the Oysters Steamed with Black Bean Sauce,
and the Shrimp and Pork Salad.
Of the oysters, both were really good, although the black bean ones were definitely much better. The clay pot rice was tasty, although the frog legs did not seem to be very fresh. The catfish was pretty delicious as well, but the lobster and beef were just so-so, and the sauce for the salad a little too sweet for my liking.

Overall, I've had better Vietnamese elsewhere.

After dinner, we headed to Quincy for some dessert at Yocha, getting the Chinese Sugar Papaya and the Cloud 9 (coconut soup with tapioca, mango slices, coconut jelly and tofu pudding).
Both were really good as always, although I still prefer the watermelon one we got the last time we were here.
