January 20th 2017: Thai Place, Shrewsbury and Sweet, Worcester

It was my colleagues' last day here at work today, so we decided to go out for lunch at Thai Place in Shrewsbury. We got the Softshell Crab Tempura (Softshell Crab and broccoli in lightly tempura batter and fried to a golden brown. Served with sweet and sour sauce), the Golden Bags (Steamed wonton skin, stuffed with ground pork, crab meat, shrimp, black mushrooms, scallions and ginger. Served with sweet soy sauce), the Chicken Steamed Dumplings, the Vegetable Tempura (Assorted vegetables dipped in a light tempura batter and fried until golden brown. Served with sweet chili sauce) and the Butterfly Shrimp (Shrimp with minced chicken and Thai spices wrapped in egg roll skin and fried until golden brown. Served with sweet sauce).
Pretty good stuff as always, although I could not eat much as I had already eaten lunch before coming out.

Dinner was at Sweet in Worcester, which I have been to once in the past. This time around, we got the Korean Nachos (Sesame Rice Crisps, Korean BBQ Short Rib, Cucumber Kimchi Garlic Chili Aioli),

the Crispy Skin Salmon (Pan Seared Salmon, buckwhear soba noodles, hazelnut carrot top pesto, crispy carrots),
the Rainbow Fries (White, Orange & Purple Sweet Potato, House Aioli & Caramel for dipping)
and the Creme Brulee (Classically Simple, Fresh Fruit, Pastry Crisps) for dessert.
The nachos were simply scrumptious, making me hope that the rest of the meal would be  that way, but the salmon was burnt, the noodles being a tad salty, and the fries were all of one color,  and burnt too. Thankfully, the creme brulee was just perfect, and they ended with complimentary peppermint fudge.

Not sure I want to come back again though, given the hit and miss nature of this place.
