January 1st 2017: Spending the Day at the Natick Mall

While at the Natick Mall today,  we went to Paul Bakery for breakfast before the stores opened, Getting a Hot Chocolate,

A Mini Gourmandise (Croissant dough filled with pastry cream and chocolate chips) and Apricot Tart (puff pastry shell filled with Custard cream and Apricot halves).

The drink was not bad,  as was the mini pastry, although the Apricot was a little too sour for our liking.

When we were finally done for the day,  we decided to check out the Meat Ball Kitchen, a new Restaurant focused on Meatballs that has taken the place of Sel de La Terre,  which I tried once a long time ago.

We decided to get the MBK Sampler (6 balls: Beef (100% Black Angus, Parmesan, Oregano,  ricotta), classic (Trinity of Meat: Beef,  pork,  Veal,  fennel pollen), Chicken (grain fed poultry, roasted garlic,  Sage,  Romano), pork (Pork Shoulder,  Chillis, Cilantro,  cracked Pepper), Veggie (Eggplant,  white beans, Basil, roasted garlic, Parmesan), Vegan (Beet, Wild Rice, corn,  Roasted vegetables) And 6 sauces: Fresh tomato,  fra Diavolo,  Pesto,  Alfredo,  truffle Parmesan,  Nono's San marzano Tomato sauce),

The  Stuffed Whole Artichoke (Garlic, olives,  capers, Parsley,  Parmesan, White wine, lemon)

And the Spaghetti Gelato (Vanilla Gelato,  Strawberry sauce, White Chocolate) for dessert.

The Meatballs except the vegan which tasted weird, and the Veggie which felt a little bland,  were actually really tasty,  especially with the sauces. We took some time to figure out how to eat the Artichoke,  plucking out the hard leaves and eating out the soft bottoms,  eventually finding the heart,  which finally Went together really well with the capers and other ingredients. My other half had to tell me as well before I realized that the dessert was meant to represent a bowl of Spaghetti and Meatballs with Parmesan cheese on top,  although the ice cream was already Melting by the time it got to us. Good try though,  and I definitely want to come back to try our their other interesting stuff.
