June 5th 2017: Albany and Saratoga Springs

Our day started out in Albany NY,
New York State Women Veterans Memorial
Westminster Presbyterian Church
Emmanuel Baptist Church
Wilborn Temple Church of God in Christ
First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany
Mount Pleasant Baptist Church

where we visited the Erastus Corning Tower,

Taking the elevator up to the observation deck, where there were views of Albany all around.
Old St. Joseph's Church
Old St. John's Catholic Church,
142 Green Street
Old St. Anthony's Church,
68 Grand Street

From here, we went to have a meal down in the Empire State Plaza concourse,

Getting some Jamaican food from The Dutch Pot,

located at the food court there,  along with some McNuggets from the McDonald's there.

The Oxtail and Rice was just alright,  while it was nice to have some junk food after not being to McDonald's in quite a long while.

From here, we went on a tour of the New York State Capitol. A really beautiful Historical building, to say the least.

From here, it was on to the city of Saratoga Springs NY, Checking in at the Courtyard Marriott Saratoga Springs
/

before heading out to do some sightseeing for the day,  even though it had started raining.

This city is full of free flowing springs,
Old Red Spring,
High Rock Avenue and Excelsior Avenue
Hathorn Spring #1,
Putnam Street and Spring Street

like at High Rock Park
and Congress Park.

Although the rust deposited on the sinks made me wary at times about tasting the water, which tasted metallic at times,  or carbonated.

This place is also full of fiberglass horses from the Horses, Saratoga Style collection,

And Ballet shoes from the Saratoga En Pointe collection.
I visited the Saratoga Springs Visitor's Center,

before it was time for dinner at 15 Church, one of the top restaurants in town.
For drinks, we got the French 15 (Nolets Gin, blood orange purée, orange flower water, champagne),
which was just alright by me.

For appetizers, we got the Crispy Oysters (Celery root slaw, spicy remoulade)
and the Grilled Octopus (Pork Belly, Crispy Potatoes, Serrano Chilies, Cilantro, Peanuts, Korean Vinaigrette),
which were pretty good, especially with the slaw for the oysters, and the Asian sauce for the octopus.

We got the Moroccan Lamb Loin (Asparagus, fingerlings, oyster mushrooms, soubise, red wine sauce, dukkah) for our main dish,
with Broccoli Rabe (Cherry Peppers, Garlic, Parmesan) on the side.
The lamb was excellent, as was the side, which wasn't too bitter.

For dessert, we got the Creme Brulée  (“Le Cirque,” Chocolate Orange Hazelnut Biscotti),
A pretty good end to our meal, which was capped with complimentary chocolates.
With that, we called it a day, heading back to the hotel, passing by the Saratoga Casino Hotel.
