May 21st 2022: Taco Gato, Hudson

After a day at the beach today, we decided to check out Taco Gato, a Latin American restaurant located within the Medusa Brewing Company. Nice little niche within the entire place.

We got the VARLET (Made with German pilsner and wheat malt and allowed to sour overnight with a lactobacillus culture. A pleasantly tart, light, and refreshing German ale. with raspberry syrup),
the MADUROS (fried sweet plantains served with housemade chipotle crema),

the BRISKET SUADERO (slow braised brisket, salsa guajillo,  white onion, cilantro), CARNITAS AL OREGANO (slow braised pork shoulder, salsa chile California, pickled onion, cilantro),
the Corn Salad (salad of mixed greens, corn, onion, tomato, avocado, queso fresco, cilantro lime vinaigrette),

the BEEF EMPANADA (flaky & hot hand pies filled with beef, green olive, red pepper. served with housemade chimichurri), which apparently comes from Che! Empanada in Worcester, which I have tied before,
the BURGER APLASTADO (smashburger beef patty, caramelized onion, guajillo cheddar cheese, lime mayo, housemade pickles) , and SEASONED STEAK FRIES,
and finally the TOSTADA PORK BELLY (pork belly, guacamole, salsa California, pickled onion, cilantro).
The beer was really good and light, and although most of the food was a little underwhelming, the flavorful burger and the crispy tostada somewhat made up for it. Guess I have to be drunk to appreciate it.
