We headed to
Tougas Farm in Northborough early this morning for some apple and pumpkin picking, and the place was already packed with people.
Never having done pumpkin picking before, we were a little disappointed to discover that the pumpkins are already picked, and you just go around looking for an ideal one to bring home, much like at a supermarket.
With regard to the apples, we tried all sorts,
finding some that were larger than our hands.
I just have no idea how one differentiates between the different kinds.
After we finally filled our apple bag, it was off to lunch at
Similan Thai Bistro in Clinton. Pretty nicely decorated place,
although it was empty the entire time we were there. We got the Duck Noodle Soup (Rice noodle in Thai clear soup duck broth style with crispy duck, bean sprout, scallion & cilantro)
and the Similan Lobster Pad Thai (Stir fried rice noodle with egg, lobster meat, bean sprouts, scallion, turnip in Thai tamarind sauce topped with ground peanut),
Not a bad dining experience, actually.
After hanging out at the
Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough for the rest of the day, dinner was at
Amaia Martini Bar in Hudson, a small but really nice place.
There was some interesting stuff on the menu, of which we got the Apple Cider French Onion Soup,
the Bacalhau Cakes (pan fried salted cod cakes served with olive tapanade and garlic aioli)
and the Moroccan Lamb Tips (over flatbread accompanied by hummus and tzatziki sauce).
The french onion soup was interesting, as it was a little sweet, but delicious all the same. The cod cakes were just alright though, and the lamb tips were a little on the dry side. Thankfully, the Pumpkin Tiramisu we got for dessert was pretty amazing.
Overall, I do like this place for the ambience. A recommend.
