We decided to have lunch today at the new ramen place in Ashland, Noodle City.
Nice cups for water to start off with.
We got the Chicken Wing Sampler (3 Each of our Japanese (Extra crispy Japanese-style chicken wings coated with our special sweet and sticky sauce. Sprinkled with Frukiake and Togarashi), Thai (Extra crispy chicken wings tossed in our house Massaman peanut sauce) and Vietnamese (Crispy chicken wings in our traditional Vietnamese sauce. Sweet, salty, sour and spicy, loaded with umami!) Wings.) for appetizers.
At first look, all the wings looked the same, but when tasting them, each was uniquely different, rich in flavor, yet still crispy. My favorite was the curry infused Thai wings, followed by the Vietnamese.
Next came our ramen in the form of the DORAGON RAMEN (The Dragons Breath Ramen! Our Miso Ramen base topped with braised pork belly char su, crispy pork belly, aji-tama, takana, roasted thai chilies, roasted chili paste and chili threads!!)
and the SEAFOOD RAMEN (Our house-made Kombo Chinese black mushroom broth with squid ink, served with fresh ramen noodles, topped with jumbo shrimp, mussels, squid, kamaboko, grilled corn, and charred scallions).
The seafood broth really tasted like seafood for once, while the other was so spicy though flavorful that we had to order a Thai Ice Tea to calm the flames that were literally getting to my head.
Overall, definitely worth the detour to come here today. The best ramen experience I have had to date, not to mention the wings.
