May 4th 2019: Hiking and Sightseeing in Rhode Island

It has been a while since I had a full day to devote to sightseeing, so I put today to good use, starting off with a hike at Mowry Farm in Smithfield RI, where the path I took is shown below in pink.

Nice views of Stump Pond from the shore,
but not so much from the overlook.
Next, I headed to the dam area of Stump Pond,
then for another hike at Wolf Hill Forest Preserve, where the path I took is shown below in pink.
This time round, a decent view from the overlook here,
but I could not find the Airmen Memorial, even after reaching the power lines.

On to other places in Smithfield,
Curran Lower Reservoir,
213 Pleasant View Avenue
Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church
Sebille Pond
Esmond Park

going for a short hike to Mountaindale Reservoir and its dam from 263 Mountaindale Road
and visiting the beach at Georgiaville Pond.
My last hike in Smithfield today was at Olivia's Forest, where the path I took is shown below in pink.

Nothing much to see here though.
From here, it was on to North Providence,
St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church
visiting the nice Governor John Notte Memorial Park.
Finally reaching Providence,
Christ Community Church
Old Wanskuck Mill,
725 Branch Avenue
Hopkins Square
St. Ann Church
Emmanuel Baptist Church
St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church
Saints Sahag and Mesrob Armenian Church
Cathedral of St. John
Graduate Providence
Old State House
United States Customshouse
Abbott Park, 290 Weybosset Street
Fake Lighthouse,
Weybosset Street and Mathewson Street
Big Blue Bug Solutions
Buddhist Center of New England
Celestial Church of Christ
Second Freewill Baptist Church
Trinity United Methodist Church
All Saints Memorial Church

Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul
The First Universalist Church in Providence
Providence Public Library
Grace Harbor Church
Old Firehouse, 41 Central Street
Bell Funeral Home
Calvary Baptist Church
Providence Assembly of God
St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church
Columbus Square
Providence First Church of the Nazarene
St. Bartholomew's Church
St. Anthony Mission Church

The Roger Williams National Memorial wasn't much of a park or museum,
and the Providence Athenaeum wasn't much of a library.
I checked out Weybosset Neck Park at 100 Dyer Street
and stepped onto the campus of Johnson and Wales University.

I also visited Collier Point Park,

where the police found the body of a student who had been missing in the water while I was there. Chilling just to think of it now.

I grabbed a quick bite from Island House Cafe, a Jamaican place in town, getting a Beef Patty which was a filling snack from a day with any food till now,
With that, I headed into Cranston RI,
Calart Tower
Tongue Pond
Spectacle Pond
Haitian Baptist Church
then Johnston RI,
Our Lady of Grace Church
ending with dinner at Reali's Fine Italian Cuisine, a small Italian place in town. I got the Chicken Marsala (A boneless breast of chicken and mushrooms in a superior dry Marsala wine sauce)
and the Scallops Esposito (Baked in the oven with prosciutto, tomato, mushrooms, and melted mozzarella cheese, topped with Ritz cracker crumbs and Mornay sauce).
Not bad an end to a day of sightseeing in Rhode Island, especially with the deal I used here.
