For dinner tonight, we decided to check out the new bacon gastropub in Worcester, the Hangover Pub, expecting to be blown away by their interesting stuff on the menu we had seen online. When we got to the bar restaurant, we weren't impressed with the ambience, and the menu had completely changed, with all the interesting stuff gone from the menu. We settled for a Bacon de Mayo (bacon pineapple infused tequila, house sour mix, elderflower liquor, cointreau, garnished with fresh cilantro, house bacon and a bacon sea salt rim),
the House Smoked Bacon and Clam Chowder (bacon gremolata),
the Kimchi and Bacon Rice Balls and Bacon Bourbon Wings (bacon crumbles, maple, bourbon reduction).
I was initially hopeful for something good when the drink came out, but it kinda went downhill from there. The drink itself was not bad, but neither the bacon nor the salt, both of which were too salty, went well with the drink at all. The soup along with the bacon in it were too salty as well. The sauce for the wings was pretty good, but again the salty bacon bits did not go well with it. Only the rice balls were somewhat okay, but nothing special.
A huge disappointment, to say the least. Never coming back again.
This blog is to serve as a record of my quest to visit every single town/city in Massachusetts and determine what are the great places to see/restaurants to eat at. Feel free to give me feedback on places that I might have missed out on, especially the great restaurants since I can only eat 3 times a day.
