December 18th 2016: Newbury Street Again, As Promised

We took our chances with the rain forecast for today to walk Newbury Street of Boston for the second week in a row, and we were lucky as it did not rain much, if at all, the entire time we were there, and the weather was pretty warm as well.

We started off with some coffee at Barrington Coffee Roasting Company, a nice little cafe on Newbury Street,

getting the Kochere, which is brewed in an interesting so-called "steampunk" machine.

The coffee was not my thing as always, although palpable with lots of milk and sugar in it. Pretty popular place though.

Our next food stop was at Sonsie, a popular restaurant for brunch, where we were lucky enough to get a table by the window looking out on Newbury Street in a very short time.
We got the Wild Mushroom Taco (red mole, Oaxaca cheese, sesame seeds)
and the Chopped Clams White Pizza (garlic, thyme, lemon zest).
Pretty tasty, the sauce for the taco, and a perfect blend of flavors in the pizza as well. Excellent meal, making me want to come back for dinner some time in the future.

Dessert was to come from Teuscher Chocolates, a quaint Swiss Chocolate place,
We got a box of truffles, containing the Coffee, Orange, Raspberry and Green Tea Truffles.
Pretty good chocolates, not too sweet as well.

Shopping was to be had at Zara

and Johnny Cupcakes
while we waited for a seat at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, a famous but ramen place nearby, to become available. Once we got the text, we rushed over to get our seats. We got the Cha-Shu Gohan (Rice bowl topped with Cha-Shu (braised pork belly) with simmering stock)
and the Tonkotsu Neginamban Ramen (Shio based ramen with hot spice mixes of habanero and sereno peppers).
The rice was just alright, but at least the ramen was absolutely worth the wait, being spicy but not too oily or salty. Definitely one of the best ramen I have had to date.

To end our day, we went to check out the Lady M Cake Boutique, a nice bakery with no place to sit, unfortunately, which somehow succeeded in making the place all that more classy.
We got their famous Lady M Green Tea Mille Crepe Cake (Fine green tea powder is infused into every element of our delicate Green Tea Mille Crêpes, a sight to behold with no less than twenty lacy thin crêpes enveloping the lightest pastry cream, vibrant green tea flavors gently humming in the background. Powdered green tea to top),
which was simply scrumptious with loads of cream. Definitely glad these famous places are now all in Boston. With that, it started getting really dark and windy, and we hurried on our way home, and we were glad we did, as there were a few downed trees on the way home. Let's see if we will do this next week as well.
