November 2nd 2017: Catching with a Friend in Mystic CT

My friend was in town tonight, so I decided to go meet up with her for dinner at the Engine Room, a popular bar restaurant in the town of Mystic CT. Along the way, I stopped by the towns of Putnam CT,
Quinebaug River Reservoir,
135 Providence Street
Putnam Baptist Church
Veterans Park,
Bridge Street and Church Street
Town Hall,
126 Church Street
Hope Community Church
Putnam Riverview Marketplace

checking out the Putnam River Trail,

which has Simonzi Park at Canal Street and Kennedy Drive,
and the Putnam Lions Memorial Dog Park at its southern end.
then the town of Killingly CT,
Alexander Lake
Killingly Intermediate School
St. Joseph's Church
Public Library
Danielson United Methodist Church
Westfield Congregational Church
Killingly Historical Center
Probation Department
Town Hall, 172 Main Street
Cornerstone Baptist Church
St. Alban's Episcopal Church
50 Academy Street
Quinebaug River Trail
Fivemile Pond, 3 Water Street
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
St. James Catholic Church
Wauregan Reservoir

where I checked out the Owen Bell Park,
then went on a hike at Cat Hollow Park, where the path I took on the closed off Cat Hollow Road is shown below in pink.

The first waterfall near the picnic area in the west side of the area was pretty nice.
I also read online that there were more waterfalls along the way, so I decided to take a walk along the road, and was rewarded with them, although they were not as impressive.
Davis Park at Broad Street and Reynolds Street was a nice park in town with a lot of memorials on it.
Next, a few places in Plainfield
Central Village Congregational Church
First Congregational Church of Plainfield
St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church,
10 Railroad Avenue
Plainfield Veterans Park,
Babcock Avenue and Payson Street
Town Hall, 8 Community Avenue
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Connecticut Yankee Mill,
76 Community Avenue
and Griswold
Second Congregational Church
St. Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary Church
David Hale Fanning Park,
North Main Street and East Main Street
Jewett City Baptist Church
Slater Library

before finally calling it a day.

After picking my friend up from the Hampton Inn in Groton CT,
we headed to the restaurant, which pretty modern looking.
While my friend got a burger, I got the Chicken and Waffles (country fried thigh, drumstick &
wing w. cornmeal waffle, buttermilk dressed greens, maple butter & sesame honey hot sauce),
which was pretty well designed and uniquely flavored as well, although I wish they had taken out the bones, but delicious meal nonetheless.

It was good to catch up with my old friend again. Apparently she is now working in my industry too.
