Today, I had to attend a friend's wedding at the
Crane Estate in the town of Ipswich, but I still had some time in the morning, so I visited several towns on my way there, first passing through North Andover
and visiting the
Merrimack College campus, which had some interesting monuments and buildings,
especially, the
Moseley Wrought Iron Arch Bridge, a historical mill bridge from the 19th century that was relocated here.
From here, I proceeded to pass through Middleton
and Topsfield
before finally reaching Ipswich.

From here, I happened to pass by this interesting looking restaurant called
Stone Soup Cafe, and as I was hungry, I decided to stop by for some food.
The decor inside was pretty simple though, as I ordered the Breakfast Monster (bacon egg, hash brown) for my meal, which was pretty good.
I wanted to try out their soups considering the name of the place, but as they were not ready for lunch yet, I decided to wait the 20 minutes in order to get them, but in the end, it turned out that they only had Clam Chowder and French Onion Soup, typical soup fare at almost any western food restaurant. I decided to get the French Onion Soup anyway, which had carrots in it, and wasn't too bad, though nothing amazing.
Instead of waiting for the soup, I probably should have left earlier to sightsee more places in Ipswich. Oh well.
I still had some time though, so I decided to check out the
Hamlin Reservation which is close to the Crane Estate. After parking in the small parking area at the trailhead, the path I took to see the marsh, which is pretty much the entire trail system here, is shown below in pink.
As it was pretty buggy in the woods, I ran all the way through the trails, stopping only momentarily to take pictures of the views of the marsh all around me, which were pretty good.
After returning to my car, I changed into proper clothes before heading to the Crane Estate further down the road.
I went to the front of the Great House on Castle Hill first,
but apparently the ceremony was to be held at the back of the place, at the Casino Complex.
The short and simple ceremony was held on the lawn, after which my friends and I decided to drive around for a bit to try to get to the beach, but failed to do so as cars were not allowed on the trails. I still managed to take pictures of Plum Island from Steep Hill and the end of the Grand Allee.
From here, we decided to head for the wedding dinner at
Cafe Escadrille in the town of Burlington, but before that, I spent some time in the towns of Hamilton

The restaurant itself is an interesting looking building, and the decor inside is pretty upscale too.
The dinner was held in one of the function rooms, and I got the Roast Duckling a l’Orange ( Crisp tender roast Long Island duckling with a zesty orange glaze) for my dinner,
with a fruit tart for dessert.
The duck was a little dry, otherwise it was pretty good, while the fruit tart was tasty as well.
After the dinner, I still had some daylight hours to spare, so I headed to the town of Wakefield to continue sightseeing there for the rest of the day.
The views of
Lake Quannapowitt from various parks around it were beautiful, especially in the light of the setting sun.
Other places I visited are shown below.

With that, I called it a day and headed to Allston to crash at my friend's place for the night. Looking forward to jetskiing in Barnstable tomorrow.
