September 4th 2013: An Upscale Chinese Dinner with a Friend at Red Lantern, Boston

Today after work, I met up with friends to have an upscale Chinese dinner at Red Lantern, located in the heart of downtown Boston.
Along the way, we passed by a few places in town.
Back Bay T Station
Liberty Mutual Plaza,
30 St. James Avenue
The restaurant itself has really nice decor and ambience, as can be seen from my pictures below.
For food we got several small dishes, namely the Blackened Tuna Bites, which were apparently complimentary,

the Green Tea Tuna Roll (Torched Tuna Dragon, Granny Smith Apple, Wasabi Tobiko),

the Tuna Tataki (Korean Soy, Kim Chee Salad, Sesame),

the Tuna Rice Bites (seared sushi rice, puffed Barley, spicy tuna salad),

the Torched Salmon (Passion Fruit, Crispy Leeks and Lotus)
and the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice.

The two tuna bite dishes were pretty good, especially the grilled rice one, and the apple in the maki made for a good dish too. The salmon wasn't too bad either. I could not distinguish the superior quality of wagyu beef in the rice though, while the tataki was way too sour and weird tasting for me.

Overall, a pretty good dining experience, especially for a Chinese restaurant, although we ate mostly Japanese dishes.
