September 20th 2015: Heading to Newport RI

My family and I headed down to the Providence Place Mall in Providence RI, getting some food from the food court there, namely sushi from Sushi Cafe, which wasn't that great,
and Mild Chicken Tenders from Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen,
which were way too bland as well.

Heading toward the Howard Johnson Inn in Middletown RI, we passed by the Charles Braga Bridge in Fall River
The inn itself is nothing much to speak of though.
We only had time today to visit Gooseberry Beach in Newport RI, which was pretty nice with dusk approaching and nobody around.

Dinner was at Midtown Oyster Bar, a crowded bar restaurant in the downtown area. We got the Surf and Turf (6 oz Lobster Tail, 6oz Thick Cut Sirloin, Chanterelle Mushrooms, Truffle Butter Whipped Russet Potatoes, Grilled Vegetables),
the Pasta Marinara,

the Blackened Mahi Mahi (Avocado, Roasted Corn Salsa with Baby Arugula),
the Fried Oysters (Cornmeal, Cole Slaw, Peppadew Remoulade)

and the Cod Chowder (cream, bacon garnish)

The lobster was pretty good, although the steak was a little dry at times. The pasta was just alright, while the fish was pretty tasty too. You can't really go wrong with fried oysters either, although the chowder was a little on the salty side.

Overall, an okay meal to end our first day in Rhode Island. More to come tomorrow.
