December 8th 2011: Dinner at Owen O'Leary's, Southborough

Today after work, I decided to restart my tour of the restaurants. I was going to hang out with my friend later tonight, so I decided to try out Owen O'Leary's in Southborough. I've often passed by this place along Route 9 on my way to Eastern Massachusetts, but never stopped to try out this Irish bar restaurant.

Upon walking into the restaurant, I immediately entered the bar area, thinking that there would be a waitress to escort me to my table, but there was none, and for a short moment, I waited there hoping someone would notice me, but no one did. At this point, I decided to head further into the place, where I finally found the restaurant section, where I soon got seated.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they have a "Take Two" combo of a choice of any 2 of the listed entrees along with a side and a soup or salad. I decided to take this opportunity to try the baked stuffed shrimp and the pot roast special with pan gravy, along with garlic mashed potatoes, and their french onion soup in a cup. I also decided to get the PU PU 4 U appetizer combo, comprizing of fried chicken wings, buffalo wings, mozarella sticks, tortilla chips and spinach and artichoke dip to go to snack with my friend as well. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera, so I did not manage to take any pictures of the food.

I thought the food was pretty decent and filling, especially the shrimp which was fresh and tasty. The restaurant decor was also nice, for a bar of course.

After dinner, I headed to my friend's place in Framingham with food in hand. We played Scrabble and Sequence, having a bit of the food as well, and I enjoyed the spinach and artichoke drip.  Of course, winning every game made it all the better for me, although my friend was not so happy about that. Oh well, luck was on my side I guess.

With that, I had a fun night hanging out with my friend. Tomorrow, I will try another restaurant, possibly Oli's Italian Eatery in West Boylston.
