January 27th 2012: Dinner at the Medieval Manor Theatre Restaurant, Boston

Tonight after work, I decided to head into Boston for a dinner experience with my friend quite like that at Once in Valhalla last week, a show dinner at the Medieval Manor Theatre Restaurant for a price of $40 a person. This is a six course dinner, eaten totally without utensils, using only our hands.

After parking behind the building for $10, we proceeded to register at the main stage before heading to the bar to wait for our names to be called back in.We got a free Medieval Manor glass and raffle tickets as result, although I was thinking it would be one per person, but oh well, I gave it to my friend for a souvenir.

We were finally called in to our tables by one of the performers, Suds, who was a pretty funny guy all night long. The first two courses came fast enough, the first a pizza of sorts, stuffed with cheese, and a bowl of mussels with olive oil and cheese on the side. These were easy enough to eat without fingers, and we gobbled them down while the show started.

One of the interesting things about this show was that it involved a lot of customer participation, with everyone having a special event coming to this show being made fun of, and there was even a peon for the night who was ridiculed for the whole night. He served as a hand rest for the king while people had to go on stage to ask for the king's permission to leave the room.
Our next course was called Faux Dragon Soup, being a tomato based soup, and was served by Suds

While we were having food, the performers would have various skits performed, with the majority being bawdy songs, and there was a section with bawdy jokes made by my favorite character, Squiggee. Other performances included guitar solos by the sole guitarist present.

Our courses included beef ribs, a bowl of salad which we felt weird eating with our hands, picking out individual lettuce leaves from the bowl, and half a roasted chicken, half of which we could not even finish at all. It was good and tender though, and of course I had all the skin.

The performance finally ended a few hours, with us having our share of laughs all night. We did not win anything in the raffle however, which was a voucher to come back for another performance for free. Oh well. I think this would be a great place to bring a group of friends to.
