June 3rd 2015: Eating in Chinatown, Boston

After work today, I picked my friend up to go to Chinatown for the night. For easy parking, I headed to Crave: Mad for Chicken, getting a small box of Soy Garlic Chicken Drumsticks to go in return. My friend still thinks Bonchon is better.

Next, we headed to Beard Papa's, which just opened recently in Chinatown. We had tried them at the Boston Japan Festival a while ago, but this was our first time checking out the cream puff place. My friend got the Original with the Green Tea filling, while I got the Dolce de Leche with Original Filling.

Not bad as always, and I especially liked the butterscotch in mine.

Finally, it was time for our meetup dinner at Montien, a pretty nice Thai restaurant located on the outskirts of Chinatown.
When everyone finally arrived, we decided to order family style, getting the Fresh Roll (Soft rice-paper wrapped with shrimp, lettuce, carrot, cucumber, bean sprout, basil leaves and vermicelli noodlecut and served with a fresh roll sauce),

the Beef Satay (Grilled marinated with satay sauce on skewer served with peanut sauce),

the Curry Puff (Crispy small pie consisting of curry powder with onion, carrot, corn and potato served with sweet sauce),

the Spring Roll (Crispy Thai vegetarian spring roll served with sweet sauce),

the Crispy Mussel (Mussel stir-fried in egg batter with bean sprout, scallion and cilantro),

the Montien Sausage (Grilled pork sausage in Northeastern-Thailand style),

the Chili Soft Shell Crab (2 crispy soft-shell on bed of vegetable tempura topped with Thai sweet chili sauce),

the Pad Thai (Stir-fried rice noodle with egg, bean sprout, turnip, scallion and ground peanut in our house Pad Thai sauce),

the Salmon Choo Chee  (Grilled filet of salmon with green pea, basil leaves, red & green pepper and lime leaves in panang curry with steamed vegetable),

and the Crispy Duck (Crispy sliced boneless roasted duck topped with ginger plum sauce with steamed vegetable).
Everything was actually pretty good, although the mussels were especially delicious, and the sausage reminded me of my trip to Northern Thailand last year.

For dessert, we got fruits, getting the Chilled Lychee Nut

and the Fresh Pineapple, which was designed pretty interestingly, but it was pretty hard to yank the pieces of pineapple out using the toothpicks provided.

Pretty good meal overall, to say the least.
