After work today, my friend and I were to go watch the performance "
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", performing at the
Larcom Theater in Beverly. Before that, we decided to have dinner at the
Wild Horse Cafe, a somewhat upscale place with a casual feel to it.
We ordered several small plates, getting
the Lamb Lollis (Moroccan spice, wild rice, goat cheese mousse, current chutney),
the
Spring Chicken (confit chicken thigh, rich green peppercorn gravy with peas, asparagus, sweet potatoes).
the Linguini Scampi (saffron and squid ink linguini with garlic, parsley and riesling),
and the Vegetable Crepe (dill seed crêpe, grilled asparagus, brie, sweet potato, balsamic reduction).
the lamb was a little on the burnt side, although overall the rice and raisins made it better, and the meat itself was pretty tender. The chicken was a little hard, but was made softer with the delicious gravy. The pasta was pretty good too, along with the crepe, where the asparagus was cooked just right. Overall, a pretty good meal.
After dinner it was on to watch the performance in the pretty old but interestingly decorated theater.
A pretty funny performance by one man, but overall, it was just inspired by the book which I have already read a long time ago, so I kinda knew the content already. Definitely not worth it to go watch it. I did enjoy my night with my friend though.
