August 16th 2015: Everywhere but Boston

My friend and I started out today at the Belmont Country Club in Belmont,

then checked out several hotels in Waltham,
Westin Boston Waltham
Embassy Suites Waltham
going for brunch at Copper House Tavern, which I have been to before in the recent past for dinner.

This time, we got the Smashed Blueberry French Toast (thick sliced bread dipped in egg batter, fresh blueberries gently pressed, griddled golden brown, topped with rich Greek yogurt and confectioner’s sugar, served with pure maple syrup)

and the Souvlaki Lamb Burger (chili rubbed lamb patty, Vermont goat cheese, lettuce, tomato and sweet red onion jam, wrapped in grilled flatbread, served with cucumber, tomato and spinach salad).
Once again, the food was nothing to speak of, even though the lamb meat was not bad.

From here, it was on to Newton,
Boston Marriott Newton
Brae Burn Country Club
where our next meal was at Davio's, a Northern Italian steakhouse.

We got the Sampler of Spring Rolls (Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls®, Spicy Homemade Ketchup, Spicy Mayo, Chicken Parm Spring Rolls®, Marinara, Buffalo Chicken Spring Rolls®, Blue Cheese,.Shrimp Cotija Spring Rolls™, Citrus Aioli, Reuben Spring Rolls™, Thousand Island)

and the Crispy Chicken Livers (Port Balsamic Glaze, Glass Spinach, Toasted Pine Nuts),
along with the Watermelon Margarita Granita, a kind of shaved ice dish, for dessert.

Pretty well presented and tasty stuff, especially the liver and the dessert, and I am definitely going to come back here some day.

Our final meal of the day was at Lineage in Brookline. I did not have a good experience here the last time, but as my friend wanted to check it out for Dine Out Boston week, I decided to give it another chance.
Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed this time around.

The Smoked Salmon Rillette (mustard, house pickles, grilled bread) was delicious, especially with all the individual components mixed together,
as were the Warm Black Mission Figs  (great hill blue cheese, honey).
The Sage and Garlic Chicken  (roasted potatoes, string beans) was perfectly cooked and not dry at all,

while the Butterscotch Pudding (whipped cream, candied pecans) was sinfully creamy, yet not too sweet.
This place has definitely been redeemed in my books for sure.
