August 20th 2015: Dinner at D Bar, Boston

Tonight after work, my friend and I decided to try out D Bar in the Dorchester area of Boston. Apparently, this is a famous gay bar, and definitely the staff there were all gay. They were very welcoming though, and I have to say the decor, especially outside where we sat, was pretty nice.
We really liked the garlic oil that came with the starter bread, containing pieces of deep fried garlic in it.
The Chilled Corn & Crab Soup (Local Jonah Crab | Avocado | Sweet Paprika Oil) was deliciously sweet as well, though a little intense after a while.
The Fried Calamari  (Beer-Battered Calamari, Green Papaya & Pickled Red Onions, Mint, Cilantro, Kaffir Lime Cream Sauce), though crispy, was just alright though, being a little on the bland side.
The Dill & Horseradish Crusted Salmon (Chilled Israeli Couscous | Roasted Red and Yellow Peppers, Pickled Banana Peppers | Cucumber | Tomato | Sorrel Aioli) was the best salmon I have ever had, the meat so moist and still with layers of fish fat in the meat.
Last but not least, the Malted Chocolate Semifreddo (Raspberry Coulis | Shaved Chocolate | Orange Supremes).
A mite too chocolatey for me, and the oranges were sour.

Overall though, a pretty good meal. I would recommend it as long as you don't mind that it is a gay bar.

After dinner , we got more dessert from Banh Mi Ba Le nearby, getting the Che Dau Trang (Rice Pudding with Black Eyed Peas).
Really good stuff. I should come back next time for their famous Banh Mi.
