August 19th 2015: Dinner at The Cafe at Taj Boston, Boston

Today after work, my friend and I decided to have dinner at The Taj Cafe, an Indian American upscale restaurant located within the Taj Boston hotel.

Pretty nice setup overlooking the street outside.
After ordering, we got a Smoked Trout Starter, which was pretty tasty, especially with the accompanying seaweed salad.
Their Mango Lassi (blend of mango and yogurt), tastes a little different from most I have had, but a pleasure to drink all the same.

For soup, we got the Watermelon Gazpacho (melon pearls, mint, olive oil, marcona almond), which was really well presented
and tasty as well, although it got a little intense after a while.

Our main courses were the Striped Bass (confit heirloom tomato, charred onion and bouillabaisse)
and the Allepey Curry (crab or shrimp, coconut milk, raw mango & curry leaves).
Once again, pretty well presented. The fish was a little overcooked and salty, though still good overall. The one we had at Centre Street Cafe last week was definitely much better. The curry was delicious, especially with crab, but I seriously do not think it was worth the $31 I spent.

The Georgia Peach Shortcake (with toasted almond ice cream) was excellent as well, especially with the white chocolate strips,
although it tasted a little weird at times.

Overall, pretty good meal, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay that high a price for the food.
