August 25th 2013: Dinner at Darryl's Corner Bar and Kitchen, Boston

Today, after a long day of doing food truck stuff, I decided to grab some dinner at Darryl's Corner Bar and Kitchen, located in the South End area of Boston. This place has a Creole sort of feel to it, as can be seen by the jazz band playing and the overall decor of the place.

For food, I decided to get the Gumbo (traditional roux-based stew, served with chicken, sausage, shrimp and okra) for soup,

the Bluehill Bay Mussels (fra diavalo red curry coconut, white wine and garlic)

and the Bob's Fried Catfish Strips (with Cajun remoulade) for appetizers,

and the Jambalaya (with shrimp, sausage, chicken, mussels and rice) for my main dish.
The gumbo and jambalaya were surprisingly good, though they tasted a little similar, while the catfish was fresh and absolutely marvelous, especially with the dip. Only the mussels were not really fresh, and hence did not taste very good. Other than that, a pretty good dining experience. A definite recommend for Creole food.
