Today after work, I had tickets to attend the
East Somerville Foodie Crawl 2012. Unfortunately, because of traffic delays and as we thought we would not be able to find parking nearby, we were over an hour late.
Thankfully, there were not as many people around as we expected, although the area was pretty shady, so I guess I can understand the lack of crowds. Starting at the end of Broadway, where the entire food crawl was situated, we passed by a stand which was serving up sliders, and we could not resist starting our buffet as we were really hungry.

After getting our wristbands at the check in station in exchange for our tickets, we headed to our first restaurant at
Maya Sol, a simple Mexican Restaurant, where our free food was a sort of stew. There was a Mexican dance performance going on here as well, so we sat down with our food to enjoy it for a bit.
The next place this side of the road was
Casey's, an Irish bar with typical bar food, as can be seen from the food we got here.
Next up, Ethiopian food at
Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant, with the typical sour Injera bread and curries
By now, we were all pretty full, but there were still many other places to visit. Next, creole cuisine at
Blessing Caribbean Restaurant.
Finally, we reached the other end of the food crawl at
Mount Vernon Restaurant and Pub, another bar where we had Chicken Stir Fry.
We turned around and walked down the other side of Broadway, heading to
Taco Loco Mexican Grill, another Mexican restaurant, next. Here, they told us that the food crawl had just ended. Thankfully, they still had leftover Mushroom Quesadillas for us to sample.
Undeterred, we continued on down the road to Los Paisanos Restaurant at 62 Broadway, where there was a cute little girl making small rings with lightsticks, one of which was made for me.
At
Vinny's Ristorante, dessert was being served, and the first "long" line of the day for pretty good cream puffs and eclairs.
Tapatio Mexican Grill at 84 Broadway and
Gauchao Brazilian Steakhouse had closed their doors for the day, but it still wasn't over.
At Ola Gifts Cafe on 112 Broadway, they were giving out sandwiches.
Finally, our last stop for the night was at Taqueria Montecristo on 146 Broadway, where it was another stewlike dish with corn chips.
With that we called it a night. My friends even had enough leftovers to keep it for lunch the next day. This food crawl was an interesting experience. I don't think I will bring friends to the restaurants in this area though, due to the seedy nature of the area, and the restaurants were all just okay in my opinion.
